Default Car Alarms & Insurers

Ok, looking to get this installed by these guys:

http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/viper...on-p-1175.html

Its Thatcham Category 1.

What I'd like to know is, what will my insurance company ask for when I let them know I've upgraded my alarm.

A certificate?

VSIB accredited installer?

Thatcham accredited installer?

Simply the fact its a Thatcham Category 1 alarm?

Do I need to be careful who installs it? Is this company accredited to do so?

What I don't want to do, is pay out this much money, then ring my insurer and find out that its useless as its been installed by this company when they should have been an accredited company or what not, or that the certificate the company has provided me with, isn't stamped or filled in correctly etc?

If anyone could shed any light on do's and don't when it comes to car alarms and insurers, that would be great!

Very many thanks in advance guys!

Cheers

Simple answer... call your insurers and see what they need. Then find an installer that fits the requirements. My car came with a Certificate for the Alarm installation to Thatcham cat 1. The insurers haven't asked for a copy of it though. I'm sure they will if it gets nicked!!!

Some insurance companies can recommend an installer...

vsib is no longer around, went bust about 2 years ago.
TRI or thatcham recognised installer is its replacement, no certificates are issued anymore, it is all done online.
so you should need a thatcham cat 1 alarm system fitted by a TRI and the details of installation entered onto the database, then your insurance can check it online.
