Default i Trader feedback....

A sensible debate for a change...
This feedback on here,i Trader...
I have (0) zero as my score....BUT I have spent thousands on here with 14 people, but no one leaves feedback,I have just made a call and within 2 mins I had paid the bloke for an item I bought, within 2 mins, can't get quicker than that ! Why don't people leave feedback ?...Is it the case of " I won't,till you do " ??

Just PM the seller and ask them to leave feedback. Usually when they see that you have left feedback they will do the same.

Seems like it mate. People will only leave good feedback if you do the same - usuall you first lol, if you leave bad feedback they'll do the same to you - here speaks the bitter voice of experience !

I always leave feedback for other members first, you would be surprised at the amount of well known private sellerrs on here who are quite happy to receive positive feedback but can't be bothered to reciprocate.

If I could be bothered then I would put up a list of them, some of them have feedback ratings of 30+ and if the lazy sods had bothered to leave me feedback after I left it for them my rating would be closer to 50.

I have left a fair few and still have a massive 0 next to my name. I believe when you get left some you are prompted with a notification so its not as if they can say they didnt know about it.

Well TBH it's a bit of a p1ss take,I know it's not SN's fault, but it would be nice to get feedback as I pay instantly as everyone will confirm, like today, paid straight away.I even asked these people over the last few weeks to leave feedback but they haven't !

i think the name is misleading. "Trader Score" makes me think its something to do with "Authorised Traders"

Good point.....It makes me laugh as I Emailed an authorised trader (didn't check the feedback!) for brakes,no reply so whent elsewhere not related to SN,next thing someone is complaining about him for leaving his parcel sort.Well this car I got last night wants the disc's and pads doing but I will be dammed if I would use him !

It seems everything you touch' buy' want' need' ask for ****s up strange hey feedback is easy if your'e the buyer if the goods were sent on time good condition ect ect leave good if not tell us all.

If your'e the seller and get paid and your'e all happy tell us simple...

It annoys me too actually. Unfortunately we can't force people to use it.

The sad thing is, people are quick to complain if they have a bad experience, but are unwilling to be a bit positive and take a couple of minutes out to give a 'thumbs up' when it's due. On another note, it helps the community out if bad traders are given poor feedback as it can serve as a warning to others.

Ive sold thousands of parts over the past 18 months, also sold parts to Jimmy but never received feedback?

Its the fact that you have to add the deal thread that makes it hard to leave feedback. I sold Jimmy a rad which Hamster PMd me about so no deal thread.

TBH, it doesnt bother me anymore.

See you got a neutral there buddy I always leave feedback regardless if other party has left me any or not, just prod them to do the same. Imho it's slightly tricky to do as you need to copy & paste the for sale thread thus a lot of peeps don't bother.

I see your point, but isn't that to some extent how ebay works? (unless I'm being stupid)

If you could just randomly leave feedback for people without any link to what the deal was, you could risk people just upping feedback for members without any transactions even happening, and that would be no good thing.

It isn't an ideal system, moreso when it comes to AAs, as purchases could be made outside of SN, as in not a result of an advert as such. When it comes to private sales, there should always be a thread and therefore people can link to it in order to leave feedback. No disrespect meant, but if something isn't for some reason, in the public domain, feedback can't really be left.

Back to point, most transactions take place as a result of a thread and it doesn't take alot of effort to C&P the link to leave feedback. It helps the masses and it's respectful if all has gone well. The fact some people on here don't bother annoys me the same as on ebay. You take the time to give feedback (in the case off good) to help somebodys reputation, and they can't be arsed to reciprocate.

To not use the system when all is well is lazy and bad mannered (moreso if feedback has been given by the other party), when things go bad, is madness as this is also a way bad traders slip through the net.

Lisa - EBay auto links to the for sale thread though so no copy & pasting required. I realize that SNet isn't EBay or indeed has it's main function as sales, imho though the feedback process should be slightly more intuitive. I think the reason it's not used much is cos it's too difficult for most ie lack of use is for a reason.

I see what you are saying (the ebay comment was why I said to an extent-as in transaction specific) but I don't think it's all that complicated, even for me.

If a transaction has been made as a result of a thread (which both people may have commented on, if not, all it should take is a quick search) it's not that difficult to go back to the thread, C&P the link and fill out the feedback form in my opinion. The system may not be perfect, but as you say this isn't a dedicated marketplace, so naturally can't have something as 'good' as ebay, but as I said earlier, plenty of people don't even bother to return feedback on there either and the hard work is done for you.....To me, alot of it comes down to a lack of manners. (obviously leaving aside trading outside of threads)

Out of curiosity, what would you suggest as an improvement? I'm not being funny, I'm genuinely interested.

^^ How many people know to right click the thread though to see the copy option? I know it as a shortcut only cos I use a computer every day, most won't know imho.

A simple improvement (not sure if possible though) would be to auto add some wise words from the mods as the first post when ever a for sale item is posted ie as the sticky at the top of the page that no one reads of course Perhaps have an item sold button that prompts the buyer to leave feedback ie only the OP can click it?

TX.

I picked up an engine Sunday afternoon and both the seller and myself have left feedback for each other. The "deal thread" option though meant that i had to go back through pages and pages before xmas when we originally started PM'ing about it to link it.

Personally i think deal thread should be changed to Item or Service.
