Default Urgent!Crystal headlights with black inserts??

Hi all

As far as I know, the classic crystal headlights with the black inserts were only made by aftermarket companies and not by Subaru??

There's a set with the black inserts going on ebay at the mo which the chap insists are genuine subaru items and not Depo or another make.

I've asked him if they have SUBARU on the lenses to which he has confirmed they have??

Any help appriciated please as to wether or not Subaru ever did these black insert headlights as genuine items??

Thanks!!!!!!!

I'm not 100% but I didn't think Subaru made them with black inserts. Maybe someone's had them apart and modded some genuine Subaru crystal ones?

Subaru didn't do black crystal headlights.

Somebody has done the 'black mod' to a set of genuine crystals.

I did the same.

If its not done well it can cause leaks etc.

Pretty simple little job though, I did mine and haven't had any issues.

Oh go on then, any excuse for a piccy,,lol.

Remove lights..
Bake in the oven for 5 mins..
Separate glass from body..
Remove insert..
Spray black..
Fit insert back to light..
Lay glass back onto light body..
Bake for 5 mins..
Press firmly onto class and re-fit metal clips.

Simple.

Thanks a bunch for the helpfull replies chaps!!

Well I decided to leave the ones on ebay for the mo as I couldn't be sure if they had been done well or not.

They look great in your pics guy's!!

They definatly look much better with the black inserts over the standard crystal look IMO and it's definatly something I'll be doing in the near future on my existing headlamps as it sounds pretty straight forward to do as long as care is taken.

Cheers
