I have no experience of the company mentioned...

I'd go with a trusted seller, like mentioned above!

More expensive in the short term I know...but could save you a load of grief and money in the long term!

Just out of interest if you already have a UK turbo engine with various bolt on mods such as a cone filter, front mount intercooler, simtec etc, would you then need to have the car remapped again?

I presume you mean would you need to have the car mapped after an engine change? If so, then, yes, ideally you should have the car mapped for the new engine

i beleive there recon engine is someone elses faulty knocking engine which has been sprayed to look new and then being sold. So if you beleive resparying the engine silver makes it new or reconditioned then buy it.

But if you want a decent engine then i would say look else where. You should take up offer on engine from a trusted seller on here.

Just spoke with Scoobydan on the phone, if things go to plan and he's happy, the engine will be with him before the end of the week.

good question the only thing i can think of is once u have purchased an item from them and have a problem and they say its down to the installation or whatever excuse they come up with ur then stuck without an argument ...

and a bit like myself i was willing to pass over basically 1k to get an engine but thoughts started flying about when they wanted my old engine and decided to ask the question about them

Default Ideal Engines

Hi Guys,

looks like im another victim of Ideal Engines, they supplied and fitted a re con for £1800. where i had to pay cash as they did not have card facilities. when on test driving there were grinding noises. i asked for my money back until they sorted out the problems. They refused to give me my money back and told me to come back in a week to collect the car. Lets wait and see how things go.

mate seriously they buy scrap engines and apparantly recon them my mate sold them sold them 3 engines with bottom end failures for £300 so there earning a massive profit and doing a crap job your better off paying a company to rebuild your one

Default IDEAL ENGINES NOT

got ripped off by them, but are taking them to court, this is a scrap yard with a few new pumps and parts in the reception, they have a shiny website, but the scrap yard is full of lying unskilled uncaring robbers, who go bust owing vast amounts ,and then start up again, don't be fooled by this set up, avoid at all cost, will post my details of work they done for me after legal action, have been told I could sell my story to rogue traders or rip off Britain, lets see, the truth will come out, I am coming to get you, you thieves!!!!! you can pretend you don't know me, but I will make sure you wished you didn't, you are nothing but greedy dishonest people who think you can do what you like, stealing from hard working honest people, you disgust me, and you don't even have the ***** to admit your mistakes, or is it that you really don't know the difference, well you knew when you stole my money, and ruined my car, I have one thing to say to you, the garage that is putting my car right after your lack of experience messed it up, charges £50 an hour and you will be paying for it, should of held your hands up , but your probably to busy ripping the next guy, well shame on you!!
