Default Back in an STi

Hey,

just got myself an 06 STi,bought from a chap on here, just come out of an E46 M3 and before that a blob eye STi.

anyway a few questions as I've forgotten what oils etc the impreza needs'...

what diff oil do I need?

what gearbox oil?

and what engine oil? I want to go 5-40 with it being winter as it will be changed again before we get back to summer.

Also, more power? I'm happy at the moment but I will eventually get around to de-catting and probably a prodrive backbox but, what else do I need to make sufficiant gains before a re-map?

3-port?
air filter?
fuel pump?

I know i'll need all of those to be happy after spending my bucks on a remap but is there anything I'v missed or should look at doing? and what can I expect from the above and a re map?

but so far so happy with the car, just 100% standard car,I cant hear the exhaust at all it feels so strange, but still nice to be back home.

thanks and I'll see you all around.

thanks,Ben

Welcome back, how do you find the scooby compared to the M3 then, There have been a few threads on here concerning M3`s that you can have a chuckle at if you look for them,

Engine oil, Motul 300v, Millers, Silkiline etc...Get a 5L and you have a bit spare
Gearbox oil and Diff 75/w90 , Same again a 5L will do both

Regarding mods you pretty much said all it needs unless you go down the turbo route, Not sure what turbo it is so not sure on a figure but would guess at 350lbft of torque

PS I need your tyres, RE070`s?

Gaz.

hey Gaz,

thanks for the welcome, I loved the M3 and wish i still had it,dont get me wrong i like this new sti but the M3 is a different car, fairly quick, very quick up and above 100mph and gorgeous inside, but we dont drive impreza's for any of those do we?

the M3 was a little so called 'boring' not overly exciting to drive unless on the edge and thrapping it,but still the same,a great car.

why do you need my tyres?

cheers,Ben

They came fitted to my Spec-C as standard and not usually to UK cars, Been after a set for a while but cant justify spending the cash as i have a perfectly good set of toyo`s on which the previous owner replaced the reo7o`s with, Want to get the full factory look back, Oh and they are pretty good when they have a bit of warmth in them, lol.

hey Immy,

just struggling to find one,I actually sold the M3 around 3 months ago and have been waiting around for a spec c but nothing really came up so bought a UK car instead.

Just read up the standard turbo is good for 350 ish which is getting close to the limit of the pistons anyway, but 350 is good for me,what supporting mods would I require?

thanks,

Hello m8 , talking about your upgrades & power figures
From a standard hawkeye to
Fuel pump , plugs 7's , Harvey smith ported headers & up- pipe , rcm downpipe , straight pipe to ninja backbox , no cats , k& n panel filter , samco turbo inlet pipe , larger intercooler y- pipe , forge rec valve , ecutek remap by bob rawle - exedy stage 1 clutch ( pink box ) 7kg flywheel - power is 365 bhp / take it above that & I risk ring land failure / saving up for forged internals then can go bigger turbo & front mount / oh & u don't need a 3 port on a hawk sti running my figures , but once forged & the upgrades begin again will have to gob3 port .. Diff between now & then 365-278 is night & day m8 ,, pulls like a train , hope this gives you some idea as what's needed

Hey Mike,

Thanks man, yeah i'm happy it blinds my old blob eye, pulls so well i'm wondering wether its been mapped? Diff's seem a bit a noisy? Gona give it a good service.

Not looking for huge power, i actually love how it drives now, really quiet and discreet 'ish' haha

I have just collected a Spec-D and it had just had all the oils changed and I too think the diffs sound noisy. Perhaps its just a trait of them?

When I had a big service recently, I used Millers CRX 75w90 NT Gearbox and Diff oil. Its supposed to be very good stuff.

Hi mate, take it you have dccd on yours? The diff oil needs to be 90LS oil nothing else I learnt this as I put castrol 75/90 gearbox oil in mine after being advised on here it was suitible and it was awful the diff was clonking around and locking up luckily it didn't damage anything. I changed it to motul 90 PA for LSD and it has been perfect since.
