I had exactly this happen to one of my company cars bang outside my office. A woman in a 4X4 turning around in the carpark reverses straight into my BMW in front of someone who worked for me and on CCTV. She also went to just drive off but my employee jumped in front of her and made her stop.
Despite all the evidence the woman denied hitting the car and because she would not accept responsibility her insurers wouldnt either!! The bill was £14.5K!!! Most of that was for the courtesy car :O My insurers ended up passing it onto a no win no fee solicitors to fight the case. Amazing her insurers wouldnt pay out.

Also a few months ago I watched a woman driver hit a parked car right outside my house whilst i was standing there chatting to a friend, she pulled up about 50 yards up the road to pick up her wing mirror then just drove off!!! I couldnt beleive it and was shouting at her to stop, needless to say I noted her reg and reported to police.

I was on my way out the door to go to the gym a few months ago and had something similar.
Some **** in a van came flying down the road, was driving too close to the cars parked on the street and took out 4 sets of wing mirrors. One of which was my vans.
He then stopped further up the road so I chased after him. Got to his door and shouted at him to get out, he then sped off up the road.
I would have throttled him if he'd got out !!

Courtesy car prices are crazy.
My pal had an incident in his range rover sport. His insurance stated like for like courtesy car. 5 weeks at £260 per day.

That parking video is a woman driver or I'm a Dutchman.

I've watched them before driving their huge MPVs or 4x4's, and they just can't hack it.

Women: stick to Ford Kas and the like

At least it was only a hatch, it is unlikely to have looked any worse after being hit

Its where the money is apparently in claims. My misses used to work for a vehicle leasing company so I know how it all works. They made over a £1,000,000 profit in there 2nd year of trading just by leasing cars out to body shops who in turn give them out as courtesy cars.

This is staged, surely....

they are good at this now,a mate of mine in his classic scoob got cut up by a lady in her car making him pull out the way and off the road thus smashing his car (either way there was going to be a crash)

the ladys insurance would not pay out even though there were witnesses saying it was the womans fault and that the witness was cut up by her on the previous roundabout.

Either way they would not payout and car was a write off, but as you say fulmentaljack3t it happens and more and more nowdays by the looks of things

Insurers seem to look for any excuse not to pay out yet want more money in premiums every year due to the amount of claims they have to pay out on.
About 6months after the incident I mentioned in an earlier post my business parter and I were at a friends wedding, my business partner went to move the car and was backing out of a space and was almost out when a teenager in a corsa comes zooming into the carpark and try's to drive past the back of the reversing car. My colleague didn't see him due to the angle he was reversing at and the fact it happened so fast but the kid in the corsa hit our merc! The kid then admits fault in front of witnesses saying it was stupid trying to get through the gap, details were exchanged and that was that. When it came to processing the claim the kid changed his story to say my colleague was drunk and it was all hiss fault (my colleague was a teetotal and hadn't had a drink in ten years). Surprise surprise his insurance company refused to pay out because my friend was drunk! Despite there being no evidence to support this claim and multiple witnesses to say it was the teens fault. The insurer said the witnesses were biased as we knew them so we're not reliable. It's absolute madness!!!

fault always goes against anyone reversing out of a parking space, the rest of the story is irrelevant

Well this isn't an opinion that appeared to be shared by our insurance company. As far as they were concerned the fault lied with the other party and the other parties insurer were refusing to pay out as their claimant was citing drink driving as the cause of the accident. If the case is that it is always the fault of the person reversing out of a parking space then surely both insurers would know this and would have stated this straight away, however it was never mentioned and the case was argued between them for months.
