Default Garage Flooring

Hi Guys

Finally got round to clearing up my garage so i can put the scooby in now instead of having it parked in the drive way.

I have heard over the years that bike owners have to make sure the tyres don't come in contact with concrete as it reacts with the tyres.

Is this the same with car tyres?

What has everyone put on their floors?
Paint, Rubber tiles, foam tiles, carpet?

neil

I have some cheap carpet down. Very cheap to do and held down with some tape around the edge.

You can buy self leveling plastic coating that you pour down and leave it to set, wipe clean plus would look shiney for little outlay...

paint is good (as said keeps dust down) however, if the concrete has a 'polished' finish make sure you get the etch solution to treat the floor first

My floor was not polished but i gave it a coat of building adhesive before painting. Painted the floor and about 2ft up the walls. Looked great afterwards. Used Johnstones floor paint.

i got johnstones too good stuff was chatting with the guy for ages in the end he opened a bottle of etch and gave me a bit to try out, put it on the concrete if it reacts like a alta-saltsa you need to etch first as the paint wont adhere properly, if you get no reaction happy days just paint it (the etch cost more than the paint btw)

well worth chatting as you will get all the tips

Just had a look at the can of stuff i put down before painting. Its called FEB proof, no need to etch. Easiest way to paint the floor is buy a cheap foam floor mop, chuck a load of paint down and spread it about painting your way out the garage. Really is a quick job!

just make sure it looks good as most of us spend more time in the garage than indoors...and if the other half gives you the boot it will become home anyway
