Default Selling my STI - Is this a fair price and is my advert ok?

Hi guys,

Unfortunately i have to sell my Impreza

I want it to go to a good home and have advertised on a classified ad on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2708732673...84.m1555.l2649

Do you think its a fair price and is there anything i may have missed or worth adding or removing?

There are no hidden nasties with this car and its a lovely car.

Thanks,

Shep.

it looks a mit scooby u got there, an sure its worth every penny, but people dont seem to want to pay a lot for scoobies these days, sadly alot of people break them as worth more in bits (im doing this now) it dont help that even scooby owners are going on about how un reliable they are, but hopefully u'll get ur asking price as ive said its a very nice car,

* Speaking as I would as a buyer, looks nice, but about £1500 over priced at least.

Why did the engine need rebuilding ? decat, fuel pump, VTA, Induciton....no gauges present to know what the Oil pressure is like on the new build, or boost gauge to know what peaks your getting with the blind mods being put on.

Engine rebuild on a standard car is not a good sign, and a gearbox needing replacement is also an indication of hard driving. Intercooler has seen better and more efficient days and the brakes are the shocking 2 pot front solid 1 pot rears that you get on version 3's. Full facelift bumper is better than the Version 3 combo.

It's a nice car on the face of it but it doesn't strike me as 'rare' and doesn't scream buy me either as I can see the money that need to be spent on it to make it a worthwhile investment at the price you're after.

In this market you're going to struggle above £2500-£2995 IMHO.

* Speaking as a fellow owner...

Nice car mate good luck with the sale

Id agree with 53 above as buyer if really was mint to look at i would be looking at 3200 max. You will never get the mods back in money on any car sorry to say

Hi mate,

I don't know why the engine needed rebuilding but i purcahsed it based on the fact that it had been and came with warranty - i saw the receipt and everything had been replaced with new bits except a second hand gearbox. After speaking with NKS performance and ScoobySpares they both knew their stuff and i had faith in the car. I had been to some places such as DCY Cars etc and nothing compared to this example!

The gearbox was crunching when warm when shifting into 3rd gear but it was still very driveable. I'm open to an offer on the car and i paid £4500 minus the £700 which was the quote i had from Andy for the gearbox.

As standard the cars don't come with gauges you speak of, but when i had it seviced by Andy i had it all checked over aswell. The reason for this was, if there was anything wrong with the car at least it was still under warranty with Graham Walker LTD and anything that needed sorting could have been funded by them. The car came back fine but i wanted to make sure i had a decent fuel pump in the car to help stop piston 3 failure which i have heard about. Alot of people recommended parallel lines if going any higher with power or a 255 pump.

With regards to money being spent on it i don't believe it needs anything spending on it and it should be left as it is. It would be a shame to change the car as its such a nice example. I believe when you start tampering with them and upgrading/modifying them, then you start to devalue them. When i referred to it as being 'Rare' i meant that it is rare to find one in this condition for its age. Not that you don't find them any more lol.

Purely an objective bit of feedback. Generally speaking the reason people break cars is because they could never realise the funds without doing so Your car would never break for what you want for it so that gives you some idea. All of what you say is dead on genuine but not enough to command the money you want.

I believe when you start tampering with them and upgrading/modifying them, then you start to devalue them.
Agreed BUT... As a minimum for that kind of wedge you would have needed to address the ECU v's your mods and uprated the brakes from the cardboard ones currently fitted. Ideally Brembos but definitely 4 pots These upgrades don't add real value but make the car more viable and certainly don't devalue them. The same cannot be said for other mods like the mahoosive spoiler but you can't go wrong with ECU upgrades and brakes

To make your car what it should be it needs about and grand spending on it minimum IMHO. Not because there's anything wrong with it, it should just be better. I am assuming the shocks are original ?

Which leads to the price, at £4500 it doesn't work financially to invest in a scoob at this bigger wedge

Like I say as a fellow owner I hope you get what you want, but as a buyer the car will be forsale a long time at that money. Don't forget you paid dealer prices initially and perhaps a smidge too much for the box IMHO. In this market your car is worth max £3k and it would be a certain kind of buyer that would part with that much cash for a 15 year old car with history.

To be honest, if the car is a good as it sounds then I don't think it's priced far wrong, I've looked at hundreds in the classifieds over the last few weeks whilst I search for my ideal Impreza. £3000 would be a steal, I'd come and collect it for that money this weekend

id ****** his hand off for £3k tbh , because you aint never gonna make the full asking price sad as it is in this climate. Only hope is breaking it if unwilling to drop that far

I am open to an offer on the car - thats why the advert is 'or best offer'£3000 is a bit too low, but i ideally want to sell the car before 2012. So if you like the car just make me an offer and maybe we can come to some sort of deal
