How many Type R owners?
#1
Any decent modding info would be appreciated.
All i have is Front lip spoiler, Blitz Nur-spec system, Blitz dump valve and 17-inch gold BK racing wheels.
Am getting it stickered up too with Type R logos on strategic places and Japanese red lettering on the spoiler.
Have had engine re-mapped and now run on Optimax (massive difference).

i have a type-r, pretty standard apart from scoobysport exhaust system...
who did your re-mapping, where in rev-range is the most noticeable difference and how much did it cost you?
Cheers.

This guy in Newbury (Berkshire coincidentally).
He specialises in scoobies/evos/cossies and rallies at the weekend.
Got mine serviced for 60 quid and the engine mapping too!
My bro got an evo 6 and he came down from sheffield and got his serviced for 60 quid plus his engine mapped too.
He has all the latest computer software (not a cowboy). Knows his ****.
U from Reading?

After he tinkered with the engine (fueling), it has much more clowt when the power kicks in.
Was a tiny bit flat before but now it wants to go. Feels alive!
Far more throttle response. Feel i might brake the transmission such is the thump i get each time i change gear!
Shell Optimax helps too!

I've got a v5 type R, standard apart from de-cat exhaust & air filter. Didn't realise the ECU could be remapped, especially for that price... Any places in the north-west that can do similar?

WrxStiTypeRV5, there's a pretty good feature in the "Japanese Performance" magazine this month of the V5, worth buying just to read the article, It sounds the Business IMO.
(maybe in a few years *sigh*)

Can u get this magazine from WHSmiths? Tesco/Sainsburys not have it.
Cheers for info anyway Crushinator.
Madness - no this guy is in Newbury. Brookwood Motor Company. Has around 4 mechanics working for him. Walking into his workshop like the film 'The Fast and the Furious'. A white cossie has been extensively modded and has 2 Nitrous Oxide buttons. Some bloke has spent 18k? on his Fiesta RS turbo? Pulls out over 200 bhp! More money than sense!

You can get Japanese Performance Mag from Smiths - depends on the size of the store i think.
18K spent on a Fiesta - wind up surely .....!!??
May have to get in touch with BrookWood Motor Co, will be needing a 30K service soon, and perhaps some underbonnet tampering after your description of the mods they did for you...

Chaps,
I've got an STI Type R V5 V-Ltd in Sonic blue.
It's got a Scoobysportt rear box, clear winkers, Gold P1 rims and PIAA's at the mo, but gonna get a full turbo back Magnex, V6 front bib, 3 gauge pack on dash, Eibach's, Black Diamond Discs, Mintex 1155's, and a Dawes to stop boost spiking.
Any thoughts on spec?
Cheers lads
