Just read the thread, something strange going on there. You posting that you bought it but then someone else posting that it's on their drive.

But if he had spoken to Scooby1 and agreed a deal etc it's a bit out of order selling it. He should of told him that the first person to turn up with the cash takes it.

Just out of interest, if you wanted it that badly why didn't you leave a deposit or organise the cash fast and buy it immediately? Not suggesting you are in the wrong here, but when I know i want something I can't arrange stuff fast enough to get it the same day if possible.

Sorry to hear you had problems.

I'd have gone to see the car personally ASAP and agreed a deal and paid a deposit there or done the deal.

It's unfair that you have paid for insurance, should ne able to get all back less a small admin fee.hopefully if you talk to insurance.

hhhmm i can kinda understand.... selling these cars is not easy and there are a lot of messers about (not sayin 5scooby1 is one) so if someone turned up with the money....strange how he didnt accept a deposit, that would have sealed the deal

Dont all insurance policies have a 14 day cooling off period i.e. you can cancel without losing a deposit or having to pay any admin costs!?

taken from a quick google search.

Financial products including banking, credit, insurance, personal pensions and investments, sold by distance means are subject to a 14 day cooling off period (this is 30 days in the case of life insurance and personal pensions). This includes renewals for insurance where the agreement has been sent by post. This 14 day cooling off period also covers situations where you bought a financial product from an intermediary or a broker, even if it was discussed and signed face to face. You must be sure to follow correct procedure for cancellation (see below). The insurer or broker must refund any monies paid by you within 30 days, although they have the right to deduct a reasonable admin charge, and a sum proportionate to the number of days cover you have had. If you have any related credit agreements, these will also be cancelled.

It is unfortunate what has happened to you 5cooby1 but IMHO texts, phonecalls and PMs are all insignificant when you have someone on your doorstep with cold hard cash.

Im not saying you wouldnt have bought it but its hard to turn down the readies there and then on the chance that you might or might not turn up.

What if you'd seen another closer, with better spec for cheaper just before you were about to leave to go and see Micadans?...........

Yep. He should still get most of it back, but expect an admin charge and time on cover deducted.

Yep, thought that would be the case moley.

Unfortunately you like and learn. I have had so many people tell me they are 100% going to buy one of my cars and still never turn up. Happens all the time. Not saying what micadan did was right, but can understand why it happened. Next time I'd get to the car and seller personally asap mate.

Better luck next time and hope you sort the insurance out.
