Says it had done 51k when the head went, done 40k since I make that 91k in total. Don't know how they reset odometer at head change, sounds like clocking it. Doesn't say if both heads were done or just one!

I'd say 90k.
It has covered just shy of 40,000 miles since it had a new head fitted, car had done 51K when head went (odometre reset when new head fitted)
Why reset it? The rest of the car has worn too!

he means the the car has done 51k miles before the new heads were fitted ...............so it 51k+40k mileage =91K total mileage

look in good condition though for the mileage !

no what he or whoever changed the milage is breaking the law !!!!! its now been reported as a clocked car

just because you put a new engine in doesnt mean you start from 0 lol the milage represents the whole car not just engine !!!

Well MOTs log mileage these days, and this will put markers on cars when it doesn't tally.

You can even check up the mileage history here for yourself for free!: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...ot/DG_10020539

No escape for these scallies these days. The ebay pratt has just devalued his car by fudging about with the clocks: A new head does not mean a new engine, nor gearbox, clutch, diffs, wheelbearings, brakes, suspension, steering, interior etc.

its also illegal to change the mileage of any vehicle to reflect say, for example a new engine or head.

^^^^^^I can only imagine that the seller was oblivious to this as he so freely admits to it being reset. Maybe a "friendly" (read "dodgy") local mechanic did the job and told him he could re-set the mileage for a few extra quid?? No doubt told him it was all perfectly above board too!!
