Default Odometer reset...???

Apprantley you can re-set your odomoeter when you have new heads fitted .

As seen here...

http://pistonheads.com/sales/3226048.htm

So it's a 90'000 mile car, not a 40'000 mile car!!!!

I am sure this is known as clocking. I replaced the injectors the other day sweet I now have a car with just 345 miles on the clock

Now this sounds dodgy but just hear me out............I wanted to buy a some STI clocks for my UK turbo 2000, but what put me off is the mileage wont match up.

If I bought new clocks how would you go about setting the odomoeter so it matches what my car has covered?

The stealer can probably sort something, after all speedos fail and they must be able to wind the mileage up

You can whiz the number wheels round at high speed using an airline. Paul at Zen did it for me when I bought a new binnacle (with Lockwood white dials fitted) for my old WRX. I wasn't clocking! - I wanted the odo reading to match the old removed binnacle's, so that it was all legal and above board.

I think you have to release and hold some little lever - which hurts your (Paul's lol) fingers a lot! - then the wheels can move freely.

If it's a later car with the digital odometer I believe its stored so that when you replace the clocks with a different set, the odo still reads the original mileage.

Not sure how it was done in the original advert though, there must be some way of zero'ing it.
