Some of the early sti didn't have red manifolds, and an awful lot have just had the red paint peel off.

As said above post a pic

1996 is a Version 2, so it won't have a red manifold. Red crackle manifolds didn't start appearing until Version 3.

1996 STI cars did have red manifolds.
But as above, many have lost the red crackle paint. Usually find some remnant of it down by the bolts.

That doesn't look like an sti that's for sure. No waterspray bootle, no sti strutbrace, no tuned by sti sticker on the alternator cover, no silver coloured intercooler.

As far as I know the the 96wrx v-limited were traditionally rally blue aswell.

so basically his car is a wrx and he hasnt got a clue!

its done 66k miles, was imported in 2007, has a closed deck block fitted, its fairly standard apart from HKS air filter, turbo back exhaust system with divorced wastegate and dumpvalve so I estimate 300bhp, it also has a P1 Splitter, 18 inch alloy wheels and a built in dvd player, it also has a Clifford Cat 1 alarm system which I have a receipt for £700 and certificate, it has 11 months MOT and 6 months tax

It's an odd one actually, on a p plate it's a ver3 era, so has the facelift bonnet and someone has added the later bumper aswell. But it should have the later engine with larger intercooler and coil mounted on the inlet manifold.

At the end of the day no it's not a limited or an sti, but looks like a nice impreza, maybe worth a look if you can now barter him down to a good price, if not walk away.

No it won't it's an earlier engine, Maybe running 208-256 or maybe more if he has chipped it or has a different ecu. Filter and exhaust will add a little bit. If your after an sti just keep looking they are very different..

1996 WRX will be 256bhp (260PS).

I'm sure all the V-Ltds were blue and I thought they were RA based. The RA's have there radio aerials above the drivers door not on the N/S/R wing.

And a roof vent, although the pics don't give that angle.

Only the STI variant. WRX didn't get the vent.

I have a V5 STI RA Ltd (with a vent!)

As mentioned earlier it is a p reg so phase 3 but has a phase 1-2 engine in there. If it does have a closed deck block (hatched markings on the top of the block) then that's a bonus but I'd want to know when/where the engine was fitted. Car may have 60 odd k on the clock but engine ( if not rebuilt ) may have more?? Nice looking exterior though
Best of luck

1.Series code G=Impreza S=Forester B=Legacy etc.
2.Body type F=Wagon C=Sedan
3.Engine type 8=2.0L Turbo
4.Year code A=MY93 B=MY94 C=MY95&96 D=MY97 (facelift) E=MY98 F=MY99 G=MY00
5.Number of doors 2=2 door coupe 4=4 door saloon 5=5 door wagon/hatch
6.Model type 8=WRX 7=RA type E=Sti D=Sti Type R & RA
7.Transmission D=5 Speed Manual AWD P=4 Speed Automatic AWD

gc8c48d = MY95/96 car. Why is it on a P-Plate, should be M or N? Maybe late (after August 1996) registered? Would explain the early engine, if its just a face-lifted front end that has been done at a later date.

It is a WRX, but it can't have been sprayed from V-Ltd blue as the colour is 230 white.

Curious now - V-Ltd should have special seats. I'm sure they were all blue though. 1996 model would have been the dark blue like N1WRC.

There were some late registered non facelift classics on P plates. Most were on N's though.

It's a 256PS WRX with some fancy bits bolted on. Bonnet, bumper, grill, lights, etc etc.
