It's a 95/96 wrx and the owner is trying to pull a fast one or is misinformed.

 

it could be a wrx v limited which someone has facelifted.
its also possible the dvla have registered it on the wrong year like they did with mine.

as above thought its defo not a sti v limited as these had a roof scoop and silver intercooler etc. wrx vlimited does not.

 

the wrx v limited was available in white and black too.
wrx v limited is a little known car - ive seen lots of them on ebay been passed off as a sti, becuase they have seats which look like sti seats etc. see broshure above.
