Refund??????
Alright Guy's
Just wondering what your thought's are on this
(This is in no way connected to this Forum or any other specific (Impreza/Subaru) forum. Just wondering what other sellers or traders ( Of witch im not) think of the "Predicament" i am in
Sold a cylinder head nearly 4 month's ago for £200 (1983 Audi Quattro) . On another forum.I checked over the head after cleaning it up (jetwash, scrubbed)Sold as all okay visually and close inspection and checked valve's carefully, never ran it myself,Will refund if not sold as described!!.
I Never heard from the buyer even when i asked if he had received it and all was okay ( After several text's i got no answer) nearly 4 month's later >>>> . . .
Today i get a text saying he has had the head inspected professionally and was advised not to you it due to a crack between valves 100% sure it wasn't there when i sold it,( Photo proof as well) . I have sold part's and bought part's of this guy before all was well previously.
And he want's a refund. . I do not mean i sold the parts knowing to be damaged in any way (44k miles on that cylinder head). and no visual damage or problems after a close and detailed check. . What do i do??. .
Considering i never heard from the guy how it was when i sold it and when he received it,until now. . Im a little confused. I will refund if it's "damaged" And want to help other car enthusiasts out as much as i can. However it's been a few month's since selling and anything could of happened to it.
Idea's guys
Apologies for the ranting

Even 4 months is out of paypals buyers protection time frame and who's to say it hasn't been fitted and ruined within this period. I think you have done as much as possible with regards to the actual sale.!
Call me paranoid but it Sounds to me like he was holding back in contacting you until something like this occured

That's what i mean. One thing that makes me doubt a little bit more is::::
He needed a rear subframe urgently for the same car's mot..Swapped for a spare 20valve 6 speed subframe i needed (his part's were perfect 2bh). All went well happy as (this was before he bought the head)
Just a little bit unsure as to what to do. £200 is a lot of money to try dig out from the bank when i haven't sold many part's recently.(mainly fixing the daily driver Seat leon).
I just dont like it really. . .

Smells dodgy to me .!
Unless I knew the buyer personally as a good friend where I knew they wouldn't dare attempt to have one over me would be the only time I would give my money back to them.
If I was buying second hand engine parts I'd have them checked out professionally within a week just so I was covered by paypal regulations.
Do to him what he did to you..... Ignore him for 4 months.! lol

I've had something similar on another forum, sold a 2nd hand Kenwood flip out stereo for £180 (they usually go for £250) then after 6 months the buyer complained the screen stopped working and wanted a refund.
So it told him. 2nd hand goods dont come with a guarantee, if you want a warranty BUY NEW IN FUTURE!
Never heard back.

4 months and he wants a refund
Why has he suddenly had it inspected now? why not when it arived? sounds like he's pulling a fast one to me. Although no way to be sure, afraid 4 months is too long.

Agree with the above- 4 months is really a bit too long for my liking.
As has been said, whats to say he hasn't taken pictures of his knackered ones to show you or whatever? If he was getting it checked over by a pro you would expect it to be done straight away. He obviously checked it himself when he first got it and found no issues so how can he blame you for anything wrong?
Politely ask him to jog on....

Texted him back this morning. Sorry to hear the head is damaged mate. Can i get it either sent up for checking over myself. It was nearly 4 month's ago i sent the head to yourself and i heard nothing. Not being rude but im a little apprehensive about a refund after such a long time. anything could of happend. Also there was no crack's between the valves when i sold it. Also asked for a engineer's report.
I dont want to go the paypal refund area. Rather just do a good deed. Only if he's genuine and i am not sure at all.

Sounds like he has removed his cylinder head fitted the one he got from you and then trying to get his money back and send you his f*cked one i would be telling him exactly where to go

Erm....jog on.
4 months is way too long to make a claim even through paypal.
Why would you buy a head then wait 4 months to even inspect it??? Its not the sort of thing you buy 'just because'.
Ive had buyers try and send me back their old damaged panels claiming the courier did it. Fortunately I mark all my panels and can prove if they came from me or not.
