driving home from ESC tunnel run, on way home the engine went. oil everywhere and had to tow the car home.
so now thinking, either re-building and forging it or to just drop an STi engine in it

parked up in the middle of A13

Might be a cheapish option if you want to go forged

Every cloud and all that, get the Lateral or Engine Tuner stroker kits and go for a rebuild from someone reputable - I'm not sure Rich is up for any more builds but Neil would bit your hand off. Failing that you wouldn't go wring just leaving the car with Alan Jeffery to do it all, the only remaining dilemma would be how far do you go 400, 500 or even more
Bugger, do you know what happened, just wondering why it spat the oil out as not heard of that before.
The engine in the link is not bad value and a quick fix, 2.1 stroker kit can be had for £1400, depends if you can do some of the work yourself or not, and enginetuner do the 2.1 bottom end from £2600 ish inc vat.
I'm sure you know just depends how far you want to go and how deep your pockets are, but good numbers can be had quite reasonably these days, chin up mate think of it as a chance for some new goodies, and the smile it will put on your face when it's all done

Any heads will allow 500 but you will be on the limit and most would probably not use wrx heads at that level for fear of fiz pop bang but there are those that do, depends what characteristics you are after, saying that though if your headed for 500 i would try and source some v3 sti heads as head work and parts can be relatively expensive ie as much as a bottom end, as usual depends how far you plan on going, best thing to do is speak to a tuner then work out what you want from the car and what it will be used for.
Inlet manifold £60, cost of head work serious $$$$$.
Don't know what car he has so just gave a possible cheap solution to a general query, but like i said best to speak to a tuner and discuss options.

Blimey Wiley......
My bug WRX is running 400 ish BHP and a couple of years ago I started to collect the bits to drop a 2.5 STi in with Mahle pistons. it's possible to stick the WRX heads back on or have them re-chambered at Enginetuner or Finch Motorsport etc. I did look around for some STi 5/6 heads but are quite rare.
Stick to reasonable and not silly power to keep a lid on the costs
Best of luck
Cheers

I was running my new turbo, and noticed it wasn't making much boost after a small oil leak. We found out the cause of the leak was just the oil outlet hose which was a quick fix.
We played around with the boost solenoid in the morning, and found out it was faulty. Reason why I was looking for a new boost controller.
We unplugged the solenoid, the yesterday morning and it was making too much boost (2 bar)
I told my mechanic mate, that I'll drive it safely and let off around 1.4 bar. But my right foot got a bit heavy on the way home from the tunnel run and after looking at my peak on my defi gauge, it boosted over 2 bar
I guess that's the reason why my cars fried, pretty much my own fault

But as others have said, see it as an oppurtunity to up the ooomph a bit.
I'm selling my sti bottom end if you can't stretch to a stroker but if you can (if you can you should), i'm selling version 8 sti heads too
Ouch! Nice loooking car though.
