Well thats thrown a rod then. Best of luck with the rebuild.

Just a tip regarding the build. Make a decision on power/spec and stick to it. These things often spiral out of control taking much much longer and costing much much more.

Hey Wiley, that was standard internals right? Last time i saw you were running about 360bhp on WRX internals. What do you think your new bhp was before the boost spike?

2.0 bar plus it recorded on the defis. so im guessing i might have made 400 bhp before it went

You needed an STI motor to run >2 bar for more than 15 seconds...

I won't bore you with my old video.

Good luck with the rebuild.

Gutted for you, but on the plus side, you properly mangled that engine, none of this "it rattled a bit so I pulled over"

Get a forged lump in there!

Don't know if it's worth re-building and going forge route. Might just drop an STi engine in with a few tweaks on there and call it a day

Well done definative proof that wrx engines won't do 400bhp so much for the pub talk

I still think you should pay that bit extra for peace of mind and speaking from experience, it's always in the back of your mind when your giving it some and makes you nervous about driving it , which kind of defeats the object, and a good sti engine will still set you back a few quid.

Gutted Wiley

Forged route with your block will be too expensive, probably worth have look for low mileage STi engine or build short block

Wiley you are still running SimTek,if yes why you would use Boost controller if your Simtek will control boost without the doubts.

You are run yours VF34 without the remap?

Again good luck with your findings

Bad news Wiley, but having watched you develop your car over the last couple of years I'm sure you'll be back with something nice and exciting soon

I was going to say 'back with a bang' but considering the current circumstances that seemed the wrong wording .. lol

Lol @ Iain. It will be back, don't know if it's gonna be a project rebuild or just a straight swap. That's what I'm considering right now

Whilst I don't like to see any local owner finish up with a problem like that, unlike quite a few on here, I can't offer much in the way of sympathy, as you honestly admitted,(to your credit) it was self inflicted! Sorry!

Bad news Wiley

Was admiring the work you had done on your bug earlier in the evening on Saturday as well.

Good luck with the rebuild.
