It was an optional extra on the limiteds, to have the 5th from the standard sti.

To answer your question,,,

I have a 754 box with the tallest 5th gear and 3.9 diff and that wont get close to 180. I reckon if I had the ***** it would hit 170 at a push, or go pop by then!!

the GT-B legacys have top speed of 168. I doubt any subaru is geared higher than that.

Sounds a bit low, in that case my non limited V5 also has the higher fifth gear? Still it's the car that has the lowest gearing of all I've own so far.

How much does the Type R with the stock fifth rev per 1000 rpm?

I'm a bit confused, according to this chart all STI Type R/RA from V3 on should have the 0.825 fifth which gives about 19 mph per 1000 rpm.

It equates to 168mph at 8k rpm but tyre size would affect, if you have the power to pull that far....

Aerodynamics play a big part when calculating top speed.....168mph is the theoretical top speed without other factors as Banny has stated.

The impreza has the aerodynamic design of a brick......lol..
