Default Early Classic WRX's safe power?

Well going to view a standard classic WRX import on a 95 plate but already thinking of what to play with. 300 achievable?

Early classic STI's still had 2 pot brakes IIRC, and all WRX's had alloy bonnets.

16 year old internals, ty752 gearbox, be careful what you wish for. check it has been serviced regularly, if not walk away.

I have a MY94 wrx import with 120k on the clock, had it imported in 2004. With the mods and mapping it is running a safe 314bhp. oil change every 6 months and full service every year. As long as you keep an eye on everything that you do is done correct and get a good mapper it's game on.

got to admit I have an early WRX on a m plate, Placed a decat down pipe straigfht through 3 inch exhaust, adjustable boost controller set to 1.2 bar and 3 inch through pipe headers and 440 injectors and mines been very reliable at 318BHP, not really to be sniffed at from an old WRX, need some help from you guys for the best place to take it for its overdue cambelt change please.

My advice is get one thats already been done properly and looked after by a reputable tuner, scoobyclinic, engine tuner, api, slowboy racing or rcm and owned by someone that knows what they are talking about.

As when you buy it you will have to spend a grand just to make sure everything is as it should be, as in change all the fluids cambelt, water pump plugs ect and thats before mods and a remap which will see off another grand at least to see you running a safe 300bhp then you need to think about brakes which will mean pads and braided hoses at the very least, then handling mods anti-roll bars drop links, anti-lift kit geo set up unless you can do this your self you WILL be circa £3k lighter after you've bought it, and even if you do all the work yourself and buy cheaper second hand parts you won't see much change from £2k.

Beter off buying one that someone as loved and can't afford to keep, theres plenty around.

I speak from experience and i'm sure many will agree.

If you can live with the looks and added weight then yep, a bug STI offers the best package per £££.
