Default Help please!!!

Bought a new car yesterday and when driving it seems that when the turbo starts to spool up there is a whistling noise which sounds like it is coming from somewhere round the intercooler?? any help is very much appreciated as i have only just upgraded from a sport!

If it has an induction kit then you may be hearing the turbo spinning up just like a jet engine, mine does. Thing to do is whilst driving see if the noise changes in relation to changes in accelerator position. You can get it to do this with someone revving the engine and you listening under the bonnet. If not mix some washing up liquid and water in a squirty bottle and spray it over the joints have someone rev it and see if there are any bubbles.

From your second comment could be a leak as you are not really building boost when revving at a standstill. Try tightening any clamps on the pipework.

I do like the sound of the turbo spooling up as it usually reminds me to back off the throttle before I get in trouble with the cops. More so if cruising on the motorway. But when giving it some hammer my exhaust sounds better as long as the baffle is open.

If it decatted its just the sound of your turbo spooling.

it is not modified in any way other than some silicone hoses which apparently were fitted about a week ago.
