Default Head gasket fix

Hi guys

Well 5 years and 45000 milles after getting a forged engine the head gasket has gone!!

After Speaking to Alan i really want to get a 2.1 built motor off him but due to an expensive girlfriend i cant quite afford it yet!!

I was thinking of changing them myself and doing it as cheaply as possible just so i can keep her on the road till next summer. What parts do you recommend i get, and where from? Going to be changing the turbo as well as mine is starting to whine a bit.

I was thinking:
Head gasket
Head Bolts
Timing belt and kit
Up pipe gasket
Header gasket
Downpipe gasket
Turbo studs

Anything else you think i should do?

Wayne

True, forged build lasting 45k. Is this the norm?

Head gaskets can go at any time. I would suspect someone who has had a forged engine has also run with more power. Nothing last a long time when upping power.

45k standard power- unlucky perhaps
45k increased power- pretty good run
45k running silly power- just wont happen

I was running increased power so not too surprised. It was built by a very good tuner on here and i have to say i have never had any problems with it. Has run as sweet as for 45k! If only they still built engines!
