best bet is to check them out properly before purchase, generally the cheaper they are the worst condition they are, but this is not always the case.
i would find one that looks good within your budget then view it.

I'm amazed how much they have dropped, guessing high fuel costs and running costs are really having an effect on prices more than I thought, had a look today at how much they were and remember them being cheapest at 17-18k last time I looked, now there are some popping up at 12-13k, won't be long till they are sub 10k for high milers

Anyone know of a DECENT dealer who would take in a 52 plate bmw m3 cab smg II, 73k with full history as a px against range rover sport/audi q7 or hatch sti......i wont be giving the M3 away but as long as the new car is priced well then can put 12k on top

In 2008, the widely publicised prediction for the Sti hatch was for it to retain around 35% of its initial cost of £26k as a residual value after 3 years. That's around £9k so the model is doing much better than the prediction. This doesn't surprise me as it's one cracking piece of kit.

If you are considering the part-ex route why not call some BMW dealerships and ask if they are interested in buying your car for stock? I have sold a few cars this way. I had to try 4-5 dealers, but one eventually paid more than I would have got in a private sale.

I always thought the main stealers would offer near to nothing for these older models??
