Ok, that sorts that problem out
Forget anything over 350bhp really, if you want reliability and not a block with a hole in it (seen them go at less than 350bhp on early engines with the not so good internals ), and your gearbox wont be up to it, or the brakes, clutch etc...
If you want to go that route then its BIG money on a classic, so I would stick with your TD05 16G as its not worth changing to a VF34 or a VF35, and the 20G will be laggier and too much strain for your engine....
Of course if you want to price up the parts you need.... start at around 10k for a reliable 350+ bhp with all the supporting modifications

Now you say
Bin the paddle clutch, nasty bits of kit, go for a good racing clutch that feels more like the standard and not one that shocks your transmission everytime you use it!
Now you need to look at the sc billet turbo's, a 420 etc, better than the 20g and less laggy, but I would say change your ecu again to something better with more control over what the engine does, not cheap but better than having to rebuild again

iam running a td05 20g ( Harveys ) albeit on a 2.5l, gotta say i love it, it seems to have 2 distinct kick in the back moments, 1st at around 3.1k and 2nd is at 4k revs.
Awesome fun and big diff from the standard vf43 that came with my car.
