Brake early on the straight coming into Paddock - the gradient is more than a little extreme!

Take it easy on the first bend after the main straight, smooth braking before and do not carry too much speed in, as you'll end up in the gravel trap on the outside.

Druids corner (the next corner) is a bit tricky too, IMO. I'm always scared of ending up in the gravel there, as the trap starts right next to track, and there's always dusty around there too. Unfortunately the racing line takes you right next up to the outside corner, and if you're too hot here you'll end up in the trap (been there, done that - broke a shock).

The trickiest corner is the bend before the main straight, it's very wide, and you wont run off here (at least i've never seen anyone come off here), but to get it right is hard. Almost nobody uses the full track width here, ending up too far right - you should end up almost touching the outside of the track before cutting across to the inside apex before the main straight.

The best thing you can do is book some tuition - it will make a massive difference!

Best tip - get an instructor to sit in with you the first time out, well worth doing.

The exit of Druids seems to be the one that catches most people out, don't get on the power too early.

Good to know it's a novice day. I did a "public" trackday there at the begining of the season and it was a bit of a farce. There were as many competition cars there as "public" BMW's, Ginettas, Clio's etc running race tyres and communication. There was blatent pre-season testing despite a rather muted comment at the briefing saying 'no testing or timing allowed' Turning a blind eye seemed the order of the day! Although I was as fast as some of these cars on the straight, they caught me on the corners and as soon as I exited the corner I had blue flags waved at me so had to slow down and let them pass. At times it was rather intimidating. Not the best day on track I've had.

Those are the two things i'd echo. Did an instructor session at Brands and it really helps get the lines right, worth the money.

And to many people try to wind the power on too early coming out of Druids, easy to spin down the hill there into the tyres.

Have fun

Don't pump your tyres up before going. If anything, have them ever so slightly less full than normal. Due to the intensity of the driving, they will heat up more than normal, therefore making the air in the tyres expand (if you get it right, hopefully to the recommended tyre pressure). Tyres with too much pressure in them can cause dramas for a number of reasons.

as Moley said, watch the exit of Druids
don't run out wide and if you do and it starts to spin
don't be tempted to catch it, put both feet out and live for another lap
Most of all have fun and get insurance
Moley can do this for you but I feel its a bit late now
