It does look very nice and is probably worth the asking price.
You should see how much the 500's go for now.
Nice looking motor that.

Danny.

I'd have a 3dr over an escort every time.
These are starting to creep up in value now. As long as the body is lovely and the speedo isn't showing massive miles then price seems fair. There is always negotiation in there as well so may come a bit cheaper.

With cosworths sometimes the paperwork is worth more than the car, it needs to have proof of mileage, old m.o.t's, tax discs, service history etc, folder of receipts.

But even if it has all these things still give the car a thorough inspection and a good test drive, yb engines are pretty simple anyway but check for leaks and blue smoke on start up. Good thing about these cars is parts are fairly cheap, £300 quid for a gearbox on the forums or ebay. Try and look behind the bumpers for rust, also sills, get right under the car where the sills join the floor pan, under the window seals, boot lid etc. Have a proper look around the car and check everything twice, if you get a rusty one its a nightmare to put right again. Trust me LOL, been there done that lol.

For that price i would want it to have less than 4-5 owners and a max of 50,000 miles.

But if it is a good one, it' will put a smile on your face everytime you drive it

Looks good I have a 3 door in moonstone and have done for nearly 20 years so know them inside out. Main areas to look for rust repairs are strut towers and inner wings, rear wheelarches and sills under kit also lift the rubber seal around the tailgate as they often go on the seam around by the lights, mechanically should not smoke at all with a rebuilt engine and later pistons, also make sure all parts in place and trim good as very hard and expensive now to find parts, also open sunroof and check inside and Also sunroof frame as the bronze tint 3 door sunroofs are also hard to find.

Nearly as bad as me then had my 3 door for almost twenty years but just wanted a good modern performance car so ended up with a my05 jdm sti the cossie is peanuts as a hobby though less than £200 quid to insure on classic and only tax for six months so £10 per week covers everything including maintenance so only works out at about 4 pints of beer a week I know which I would rather have though. Good luck with the viewing mines only about 320bhp and it can be a handful but I do have standard suspension and brakes, the power delivery on a low compression cossie is amazing just like a on off switch and easily brakes traction in the dry so great fun to drive
