Default Calling all mappers / mappees

Hi,
I have a 2.5 Wrx Hawkeye with a Cosworth Panel Filter. I'm looking into getting the car mapped. A few questions if anybody here has experience of JUST a map on a 2.5 Wrx - or knows a thing or two about mapping !

1. What bhp gains do I stand to achieve? 221bhp as standard right?
2. Economy rise?
3. How easy to put back to standard?
4. Torque rise?
5. How much?
6. Reputable people?

Cheers,

Duncan (Racedynamics) did my Hawkeye. Brilliant job. But I had changed a few more bits before hand. You wont regret it. Actually rolling roaded mine as standard with only a back box before it was mapped and it made 253bhp.

Making considerably more now!

All at the same time.

1. Air filter
2. Exhaust system with Sports cat or De cat
3. Upgrade fuel filter
4. Good Reputable mapper
5. Good times

Dont need uprated filter. Only put uprated Walbro 255 fuel pump kit on mine for 340bhp.

I would say if you can afford a new downpipe then get that. I have the cobra 200 cel sports cat on mine, is MOT friendly and replaces your 2 restrictive cats with 1 single cat that helps the turbo spool up.

Shouldn't need fuel pump upgrade if your keeping the TD04 turbo.

I really don't want to be changing any parts if I can help. Just wondered whether or not a map would improve drivability etc.

I had a Volvo T5 and that a plug and play map - don't seem to exist for Subaru?!?! Literally took two mins to map, two mins to load the old one back on. Gains were not considerable but gave some extra punch.

Yes, definately. The standard map on the 2.5 WRX restricts the performance, so getting it remapped frees up the engine. Will have better throttle response and will drive better. Worth doing.

You wont get a plug and play map for the subaru. Every car is different and every car will respond differently to a map so best to get yours done by an expert.

Cheers,
With a decat and remap you should see upto 290bhp/350lb its the torque you notice the most on these. With standard cats in place I would hope to see around 270/330 along with better mpg, throttle reponse and the power not die off to early in the rev range.
It is also possible with ecutek racerom to have two map (standard map and high powered one if you wanted) along with launch control, throttle blip etc.

Prices I charge are on www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk which includes racerom where relavent, dyno time or travel to you depending on preference.

It's also worth getting a 2.5 mapped because the engine failures on 2.5s are supposed to be caused by a poor map, a bespoke map is always going to be better

This is great info folks.
So how much am I looking at for a simple re-map to release the power?
What would you guys expect my figures to raise to?

According to figures my car should be outputting 227hp..and 236 ft·lbf, 320 N·m torque now.

I usually get around 30mpg too.

Have a look here, post 34:

https://www.scoobynet.com/882306-wil...st-mule-2.html

Economy will definitely increase per bhp output, what you'll find is that after a remap you'll have 100-150lb/ft more and approx 30bhp more, but still be seeing the same MPG perhaps a little more.

Grayham, that sounds great. All for £300 plus travel. Where are you based and what are travel costs to Grimsby?
Might have to twist the missus' arm a bit though ;-)

Because in normal driving it response quicker with less throttle and yu get to your cruise speed quicker. Along with other adjustments that help.

Ecutek dealer only. No extra cost, part of an ecutek remap.

Assuming the fuel pump is good whic you wont know untik it is mapped there shoukd be no need to change it. Sti is worth considering fuel pump change more as it will have to work harder.

Usually see about 265/265 on an 05 wrx standard exhaust 280/280 with decat or sportscat.

It should still have the ecutek licence from when powerstation mapped it so just a remap by ecutek dealer
