Default car buying scam(beware)

i am trying to sell my car thought i had a buyer till i got this emal. then i emailed him back after checking into some car buying scams and this looked suspect as he was going to collect the car without checking it over and didn,t even try to haggle on the price.(my car is still for sale if anyone is intrested).
EMAIL BELOW sellers beware.

Hello Scott, I had this problem with the mover, they said i will need to pay for the pick up before they can arrange a pick up time, they charged me 600 for pick up and delivery, i will add the 600 to the money i will send through paypal as soon as you have the payments, i will need you to help me send the money to my mover through western union money transfer, this can be done from any post office, i would have done it myself but didnt bring my credit card aboard, i am a little incapacitated.....I will appreciate your help here. Thanks. James -- *HMNB Clyde base, Faslane, Helensburgh, * *Dunbartonshire, G84 8HL* * * * * *James scott (POS)2* *Phone No: +447045736277 * * *
why cant he not pay the mover himself through western union himself as he managed to pay money into my paypal.
ANY HELP appreciated.

Woah now, he paid you the full amount into your paypal? Sounds suspect to me, I wonder if he's trying to do a dodge then open a dispute with paypal later and claim he never had the car, definitely doesn't sound right

standard scam like the nigerian fraud. Basically they get you to sign over the car and pay the guy for coming to take it away ! Of course the paypal transaction gets reversed later on.
Plenty of threads on here about this scam

Paypal will pay him the money back, they will then presue ur bank for the payment, ppaypal is ok for small amounts of money but selling big item worth more than £2-300 in my eyes should always be a cash sale or BACS, unless its a trader with history linked to them.

Agree with the above. Paypal is fine for small payments but anything more than £300 is risky. You see thread after thread about the good guy getting fooked over by paypal. They always seem to side with the guy in the wrong.

Cash only mate when selling cars, or take the guy into your bank and have him transfer it there and then.

I bought my daily banger from eBay. Only paid a small deposit by Paypal then paid the readies when I had inspected the car.

Most likely a scam.

If they are not willing to pay cash then they aren't really interested in the car.

Cant they claim the money back from paypal for 45 days or somthing, so while you may think its cleared, they later simply reclaim it via paypal dispute.
Cash cash and cash only way id entertain this guy

Why oh why & how oh how do people fall for such cobblers ... I pay you & you pay them ffs

TX.

PS

It will be stolen funds not from the UK. Funds will "clear" but get clawed back later when the scam is rumbled ... you of course will have no car, no money + you paid for it to be shipped too gotta laugh at the shear brass neck.

Iv already been done about 6yrs ago!

Basically, when you send the money via Western Union and give him confirmation its been done he will they take back all his money he paid into your paypal account. Not sure how its done but its happened to me. The money you transf to the "mover" actually goes back to him.

As soon as I emailed the guy to let him know Iv transf the money he instantly withdrew the original amount from my account leaving me with with nawt. Knowone will come to collect your car, its just part of the scam to make it seem like a gen sale.

The guy is a complete waste of skin!

If at any time you think its a scam, Just copy and paste a few lines of the email into google..

Googling the OP's email I get this:

http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/sho...e-advice-input...

Word for word the same email just with different names

Guy came out looked at my car (for his mate who was in Poland till new year) car was fine, mate is going to send you a cheque & he will call you in in the new year to come and collect. Cheque come i paid it into the bank to find out it was stolen. Bloody bank tell me my account has been frozen and I need to provide proof of var being for sale at the amount the cheque was for a big rush about & panic just before christmas. Yes he did ring & ask me when he can pick the car up lol.

thanks for that ail-b ,that lad got exactly the same email that i recieved aswell bloody scamers. while i am here i sent a email on piston heads to a owner of a seat leone cupra r ,then got a replie from piston heads saying do not reply to any emails from this user as this advert has been found to be a scam ,these scams are getting everyware .
Hi, Our records show that you recently replied to the advert 'SEAT LEON CUPRA R PLATINUM GREY LOW MILES' (3082331) on PistonHeads. This advert has since been removed as we have reason to believe that it may not be genuine. We strongly recommend that you ignore any contact from the 'seller' and under no circumstances transfer any money.
