Well might seem like a repost but sadly it isnt. I bought some alloys of Gez P on here and was really looking forward to getting them fitted. Local shop that fitted my tyres for £5 a wheel said no worries and i got the car booked in albeit for £7 a wheel due to balancing etc. Took it down to him and he was honest enough to say that he wasnt confident doing it in case he damaged them. He recommended a place over the other side of town so off i trundled. They then said they wouldnt do it as it was company policy not to fit alloys and recommended another place, went there and they wanted £60 for the work so i said no thanks having been orginally quoted £28. So i went to yet another place and was quoted £60 plus VAT!

Has the world gone mad, seriously £60 plus to fit some tyres to wheels and then to the car? i know there is a recession but FFS.

Anyhoo does anyone know of or can recommend a fitter in the areas in the title?

give them a try,always supplied me tyres at pretty good price compared to others,never supplied my own tyres but well worth a phone call.

Thanks for all the replies, i have spoken to other local companies and one of them said the reluctance to fit them is mainly due to new laws/direction from the tyre manufacturers where they have stated that they will not guarantee and therefore not support a tyre being fitted more than once due to stretching in the sidewall. This evidently leads to tyre blow outs at speed?

I have found a guy in Martock though that said he can fit 45 profile tyres all balanced etc for £8.50 a wheel. Got it booked in on Thursday lunch so will report back if there is any snags.
