Default Service intervals for 2006 wrx

Had a look at previous posts regarding service schedules but couldn't find anything related to a 2006 model wrx. Is it the same for the 2.5 as the 2.0 every 6k miles? When should the cambelt, tensioners pulleys etc be replaced? the car currently has 21k miles on the clock and is 2006 model. Cheers

Default 2006 Hawkeye Cambelt

Why does the handbook say the cambelt does not need changing for 7 years and everyone on here recommends 5 years max? My 2006 WRX has only done 10600 miles. Any advice would be appreciated

Thats a big difference between subaru's recomendation and what people sugget, some clarification on that would be good.

When the wrx was serviced at 16k it was advised not to change the belt due to the low mileage. Obviously the car is now 5 years old but not sure whether it warrants an immediate change, maybe by the end of the year to be on the safe side.

does this mean that my cambelt needs doing also? tis r sport. only covered 35k but its 4 1/2 yrs old now. do i leave it for another year to crank up the millage a little, or get her done? i understand that the cambelt does crack due to wear and tear and gets weak, so i take it then it perrishes also due to age. the car has only covered 5 k since mot last year!!!
can you get it checked at the next service interval?

Its x mile OR x years, whichever comes first, mainly because the likes of rubber deteriorate with age and oils break down with age also.

It is relatively easy to inspect the belt for damage / oil contamination yourself.

I was told a story in a dealers of a Legacy that had 100,000 miles on it's original timing belt, BUT it was uncontaminated and undamaged.

P.S. Mine was 5 & 1/2 years old when dismantled.

Well I may leave it in that case until the end of the year, if Subaru recommends every 7years then shouldn't be a problem for some time.

50k or 5 years for the 2.5 cam belt.

I personally think 10k is too long between oil changes so that gets done inbetween each service at 5k, should be a section in your service book for these as well.
