Default Urgent Help with a Blitz Nur Spec R Fitting!

Hi,

After deliberating for months about which exhaust system to get for my 2005 Wrx STi, I plumped for a Blitz Nur Spec R.

Got it ordered etc and was excited to go get it fitted this morning. Got it up on the ramps and fitted. I was gutted to see that the exhaust dident fit flush at all. It was rubbing on the bumper and the loops were being pulled tight by the backbox.

Please can someone help. We have had to take it off and put the standard prodrive backbox back on. The downpipe is standard so the Blitz should match up perfectly.

As you can see in the picture below it is about 2.5 inches to short and rubbing on the bumper.

Its a standard spec UK STi so the model code of the Blitz to match this is a MS3080. This is whats on the box but I am a little concerned that the build quality just dosent look all that good if its machined.

I dont know what to do. Im not going to get it re-fabricated to fit because it should do easily. I am a bit gutted considering the cost of the whole system. Before anyone asks, it was bought brand new from a reputable dealer.

Thanks

The rubbing on the bumper could be caused by the rubber hangers being too short. Other than that i have not got a clue im sure they normally stick out abit further than that but cant be sure.

I had one on my supra and it sat perfect.

Definitely something not right there, mine doesn't touch the bumper and sticks out further than that.

Is the rest of the exhaust rubbing anywhere or not sitting right?

Do you have the standard uk cat fitted? The JDM cars have a smaller cat than the Euro cars according to the Blitz website.

Yeah I have been backwards and forwards with the dealer today and measured the full UK system with one they have. The system they say is the right length. They said it sounds like its a JDM downpipe. How could it be a jdm downpipe if my UK centre section and UK prodrive backbox fit perfectly.

I should of got a pic of the downpipe, im really gutted that this hasent gone straight on. Is there a way of telling a JDM downpipe from a UK? Any stamps etc?

Thanks for the replies, I was really looking forward to this today and am gutted.

Thought I would add that there is a difference of about 2 inches in the UK and JDM downpipe which could correlate to the difference. If anyone can shed light on the downpipes with how to tell the difference that may help.

As I said, the Prodrive exhaust fits fine.

Have you any pics of the prodrive back box fitted? Just wondering if anyone else on here has one that they can compare to see if that is also shorter than others.

This is the Prodrive fitted. Gap all the way round and no rubbing on the bumper.

The Prodrive sits great. The rest of the Blitz when on the car was fine too with no rubbing. I just dont know if anyone has any pics of a jdm downpipe vs UK one. Are there any obvious differences?

I take it you have contacted the dealer you got it from? I have an 05 STI with a blitz and it sits the same as the black car. I will be taking my standard downpipe off tuesday so if you wanted to look at that no problem.

Scooby that would be apreciated. Do you know if it has any stamps on it etc to show the difference against a JDM pipe.

Just on a side not. The hangers that the backbox sits on are pulled tight backwards. The pic of the blue scooby that Fozzalot posted shows the hangers but they are pulled tighter than that.

Not sure about the difference between UK and JDM pipes to be honest. I can have a look at my pipe but wont be until tuesday. Is it defiately a OEM downpipe? I think Miltek ones are slightly shorter so you have to use their full system. I may be wrong though someone else may confirm or laugh at me.

Wrong downpipe or wrong Blitz system I suspect.... I'd hazard a guess at the newage bumper being 'deeper' than a classic so may explain it.

That looks short to me too.

From memory, prodrive boxes I've seen in the past have the prodrive engraving visible when looked from above, if you know what I mean.

Normally stick out like this

My my05 jdm downpipe with front resonator is same length as uk one hence my centre section was a Haywood and Scott newage one and fits perfect along with my genome backbox, only thing is my downpipe and front resonator are same lengths as uk 2.5 ones, earlier jdm had one piece downpipe and centre section that's same as classic but backbox still the same. A jdm downpipe would not fit your car as twinscroll is different bellmouth fitting. I think best bet would be to contact seller before you do anything does your car have genuine ppp second decat and is this fitted and lined up correct as this can effect the line up of the whole system.
