Default Parking fine

This morning i went to greggs, at the front of the shop there are some parking bays ,they wer full.so i parked at the side were it said no parking, it was private land.
By the time i come out maybe 4or 5 mins, somebody stood outside taking details no. plate.I asked him what he was doing he told me i was getting a fine for parking there. He said you can drive off but you will get ticket for £80.
if i dont pay in 7 days it goes upto 120.
What do i do,help from scoobynet members.
Thanks

If it was on private land ignore it.

Ignore any more demands for money too.

Be grateful for it. Regard it as a "eating too many pies" 'tax', instead.

Most parking fines can be got off either because they're not actually legally enforcible or if it is a civil one, i.e. handed out by the local council, just write a grovelling letter with some excuse as to why you didn't buy your ticket or why you we parked in the wrong place and most of the time they'll let you off.

Fair comment though, you did park where it said " No Parking"

We have all tried it on before, just an expensive lesson

Ignore it, no response to anything they do is required.

I used to park in a private car park daily, never bought a single ticket. Every now & then they ticketed my car followed by 4 letters through the post each more "serious" than the last. Then nothing ... I have about 40 sets of 4 letters

TX.
