Default How to tell difference? WRX & WRX STi

I'm currently looking at a scooby (55 reg) - black, and its advertised as a WRX AWD Turbo, it's black and doesnt have any of the STi badges on it, but it does have the big bonnet scoop and the big wing on the rear, exactly like an STi, when i type in the reg into the car data check websites it comes back as Impreza WRX STi Type UK.... Yet the garage are selling it as a WRX AWD Turbo and it has no STi badges on it or anything like that, can anyone tell me a sure fire way of finding out exactly what it is?

Easy way to tell quickly is that the STI will have a 6 speed box and Brembo's front and rear

Easy way is to see log book sti will be stated on there, loads of difference between cars but many wrx are fitted with sti parts, not many fit them all though but spoiler and scoop are probably the most common, it is also common for insurance databases to get it wrong, if the garage is selling as wrx it most probably is as they rarely make mistakes like this

Most people on here who buy the cars get the bug to mod them for more power handling and performance and the STI is the better platform to do it.. Get an STI mate and you'll forever be happy.

ps I had mine nearly a year and half and don't have that bug.

You mean you had your WRX or STI? To be honest im really not fussed about modding, it looks nice, sounds nice, i'm not looking for (any more) points or accidents anytime soon, saying that if i bought the WRX i reckon within a month i'd be trying to find out how to get it to 300hp

Ive got an STI had it 16 months and the only thing I've changed is the clutch, It died so I put an uprated Exedy clutch in it. I don't have the modding bug ,I'm more of a, I enjoy the car, I enjoy driving the car and 300hp is more than enough for me.
buy an sti with prodrive pack or a custom map and you'll already have over 300bhp.
