Default scoob virgin lost and confused

Gonna have lots of questions coming later, folks, but here's the first one.... and I don't half feel silly asking it....

Until I can buy an owners handbook (downloaded a workshop manual, thx)...

'95 wagon STI v2 555. Found a fusebox under the bonnet, but it refers to the 'inside fusebox'. Where the F^%£ is it?

Going blind, here....

Picked the car up last night, only drivers window works, wanna look at fuses first...

I would have expected all 4 windows to be on the same fuse. The switch that cuts off the rears only does just that doesn't it?

try the workshop manual links in the wiring link, too many links to links!
"I read elsewhere that the power windows may be on the fuse SBF No 6, and this fuse is mentioned in the annotations on the reverse of the engine room fuse box lid but the fuse itself does not exist.

Should you happen to know where I can find the power window fuse I would be very grateful of that information.

Tim"

thanks, guys.

And for sure, it's unlikley to be a fuse. The drivers one works fine, none of the others work at all. isn't it also unlikely to be three simultaneous faults?

And how do I remove the door cards? Didn't seem obvious to me when I had a quick look. I've downloaded a workshop manual, only to find that under 'bodywork' there's no mention of doors, and under wiring diagram, while they index power windows, there's no diagram for them!

Four hundred miles to drive tomorrow, and only one window working... Mine. She won't be best pleased, methinks!

At least the air con works!

... and I can't help going back to my luddite rooots and saying, "what's wrong with winding the buggers down by hand?"

Anyone help, out there?

Al

Default Easier solution

Short term cure.....
Placate the missus with some decent tunes and the promise of a meal out at the end of the drive, wont fix the problem, but may keep you talking!
Subaru aircon does not work so well with the window open, bla bla!
To cure the window issues you will need to pull the trims and check the power is getting to the motors, and or pull the switches to check for power, so that is going to take time. Best wait until the dust dies down before open heart surgery.
If you need to pay bridge tolls then you only need your side working anyway
There seems to be some confusion in the posts as to the fuse for the windows. Best check all the fuses are good, easiest and least invasive proceedure!
If all else fails stand back and get a brew on, it stops irrational fault finding with bad consequences, like more breakages that add not reduce the problems

This is going to be one of two things:

Either the switch that locks all windows apart from the driver's side, is depresssed...........or, the same switch is faulty.

Ah!!!

"Either the switch that locks all windows apart from the driver's side, is depresssed...........or, the same switch is faulty. "

So THAT'S what that switch is! I thought it was a door locker switch. Well, blimey, seems obvious, then. May even be fixed with a gentle thump...

I'll let you know, guys!

Is the 'child proof' rocker switch engaged that locks all but the drivers window? this is std on all jap cars pretty much.

if not;
Likely the windows are jammed/seized through lack of use. in neutral on tick over - try the window switches, if the revs drop very slightly when the switches are depressed then the power is getting to the motors so likely seized, also check the switches are ok and not corroded again though a lack of use.

Default Child proof

Similar story....
Was away in Eastern Europe last summer, my 19 year old contacted me that the electric shower was not working, no light on and no signs of life.
Sent fault finding guide to breakers, reset all of them. No, still not working.
He had no shower for weeks, just like an extended Glastonbury really.
Came home and found the pull cord for the shower by the door had been used to turn it off.
Click....fixed it son!
