2000. I am thinking about buying a 96 type R... They want around 7,200 USD for it... I thought their engines were very similar...

The best place to look for this kind of info is on the Type.ra.co.uk forum. I did a quick search and found this thread. There will be more if you can be bothered to search through it

Hope this helps

The only real numbers I can give is my old evo did a 12.3 @112mph.it still had the limiter on and was at 112 about a second before the line.
My type r is totally standard but feels a little quicker so with the shorter gearing I'd hope to be closer to 12.
It's quite hard to generalise a time because other things come into play, like fuel type, temperature on the day, speed of shifting ect.
Anyone got any standard figures?

Danny.

Pretty far off actually, considering a factory standard Spec C does it quicker, official figures are 13.4@104mph.

RA I think, virtually nothing in it between an R and RA, same gearing/engine, these were for a later v5/6 model which were actually the quickest out of all the classics.
Though it was a v4 sti that got the quickest saloon in the world off BMW

Yes ish, depends on the car, you could see anything from around 260 up to 300 so many factors involved.

Until it lunches the gearbox or needs a clutch, possibly. Would depend on the car, the strip, the tyres and the mechanical (un)sympathy of the driver. etc.
I think the 13.4 figure was from Autocar. Better would be <14 seconds.

For longevity don't use sticky tyres and/or budget for gearbox upgrades.
