well i want to put a front mount intercooler on it as im running a de cat down pipe, blitz nurspec exhaust, walbro 255 fuel pump, k and n panel filter, iridium grade 8 plugs, magnacore leads and a ecutek remapped ecu. want to put a fmic on and need a air filter for it, and want to either push more boost out of my TD04 or put a TD05 18g on it. I am currently running 1.1bar of boost on my TD04.
Please don't go mad at me as im not massively knowledge d when it comes to tuning subaru's. it goes on a rolling road tomorrow to see the power and tune the fuel to air.
Any advise is appreciated
Cheers Lee

With a TD04 chances are you do not need an FMIC as your car is probably good to 300 bhp plus without. It is very unlikely your TD04 can make 300 bhp. By 320 bhp you will benefit from an efficient front mount intercooler.
An HS TD05-18G is a 360 bhp turbo and you would need 550cc injectors to maximise.
Take note of the word efficient and do not be misled by dishonest advertising claims regards bar and plate intercoolers, good to 600 bhp with only a .5 psi pressure drop at over 1000 CFM. Absolute rubbish.
Our front mounts are tube and fin and far more efficient than any bar and plate FMIC with lower pressure drop and the Hybrid GT is £325.
With the Hybrid FMIC if you were actually going to exceed 300 bhp you will need a cone filter system and we can assist you with that.

To achieve your goals you need to determine what you actually want to do and then have a joined up plan.

Well im looking to try and sit at around 300bhp, but not kill the engine or my wallet, i allready have the above mods, hopefully i find out what it is pushing today after it comes back from the rolling road, what would i need to do to get 300bhp without needing clutches and things. People on here say i should be getting around 280BHP with my current mods, would it be worth trying to get 300bhp or would you just leave it at 280if thats what it is pushing. im not looking to be the biggest and fastest but just want a good amount of power.
Cheers

If I was you I wouldn't even bother with going on the rolling road for the power check and tune you have planned.....I take it you mean mapping......you don't want to kill the wallet, well thats doing that straight away......get the mods you need fit them and then get the mapping done......because if you play around now and then go induction kit or FMIC you will require another remap which means more money

280 on a td04 is on the higher side of results and no gaurenty you'll get that, if you am for 260 you wont be disapointed.

for 300+ need a new turbo, wouldn't bother with a front mount unless you change the turbo.

as far ascost of one, anything from £250 for a second hand vf35, or new then you have a massive choice form harveys mentioned above, vf35, vf34, sc36 etc etc etc

Even RR figures are a minefield. I can go to one RR and get 422 but at another on the same tank of fuel and no changes I can get 448 bhp
or 220 in a particular vehicle at a completely different RR followed by 250 bhp elsewhere and even another example, 218 bhp and then the second venue above (448) to embarass everyone with the best deisle at an RR Day for Astra Owners Club 284 bhp.
What a load of bollocks.

Now you have started with RRs, stick to the same RR always and hope it is consistent. Unfortunately many are not.

Just to add, with all supporting mods I have seen UK 2000s make 260-285 bhp on a TD04 and we had a recent New Age on a TD04 which made 296 bhp. That is the most on a New Age I have ever seen from a TD04 so 300 bhp is a pipe dream unless you invest in Nitrous, water methanol or go to a very favourable rolling road.
