You can remove the fuse in the wagons which means it will be fwd. No switch as such though.

I'm sure all the 2.0 GL's were permanent AWD. the 1.6 model were FWD.

Normally aspirated imprezas are just as bad on fuel as the turbo ones for some reason

I'm pretty sure they had a Hi+Lo 2.0GL

You'll get 35mpg from it easily.

I think the gl's are fwd, think only the sport are awd. If its awd you won't notice much diff on fuel.

I have to say I've experienced both and I agree with those figures. I drove Swiss's sport back from Leeds and it didn't get many miles to a tank more than my sti

Agreed on a spirited drive you can get it down to 19 and city driving I get 28 but I usually get 350 miles to a tank.

I drive from the Cotsworlds back to Cardiff twice a week and can assure you that 40mpg is easily achievable when the cars serviced regularly and driven correctly ie not thrashing it to within an inch of its life!

Default fuel consumption!

In reality the turbo may be better on fuel for general use, but commuting crawling with the air con on may drop down to the sub 20's. I am on Subaru number 6 since 1996. First a old style sport 2000. Mid 20's for general cycle, but 35 on a long run. three Foresters, two were AWP and the first was not, again mid twenties general use. A 2003 1.6TS wagon (four wheel drive with high low ratio) and a 2003 Sport GX. This I run on 100 mls acetone per 45 litres and have put a K and N high flow filter element, a F16 battery saver, a Turbo fan and power magnets on the fuel lines. I am getting 31 MPG now and 25mpg before. I do a very mixed driving cycle, lots of town driving so the 31mpg is a big improvement!

Can't see much point in having a Scooby if you're not going to thrash it

Default Right boot and ECU

Thrash it on a cold misty day, as the ECU will then be reset into happy mode!!
Too much tootling around puts the ECU into grandad sunday afternoon mode!

Well you must be the only one lad. By your maths your nearly getting 45 mpg. You would strugle to get that out of most fwd 2.0 cars. My ford was 2.0 16 v best i could get was 40 mpg but that was hardly reving, doing under 50 mph. Hardly touching the thotle.

Default who cons who?

Since the beginning of human records, women have succesfully conned men!
I always prefer to experiment, rather than be fed information that is not based on the case you are wanting it for.
The devices were high power niobium magnets placed on the lines as they enter the injectors. The turbo fan changes the engine power delivery and reduces the sharp engine braking.
The acetone works, in Germany some of the super diesel on sale has acetone added.
I work in an industry where many things are empirical, not science. You know it works, but common sense says it will not.
I see a major improvement, you see no potential.
Who has been conned?
This forum is to exchange experiences and supply information. These experiences are documented for you to see. If you fail to open your mind as well as your eyes, the savings will be lost to you. That is your decision.
I am not involved in the selling, marketing or development of these devices. The 5mpg decrease in fuel consumption on a 25 mpg base is good for me. Maybe you are happy to keep forking out for fuel with a smile on your face at the pumps. That is your decision, not mine.
