Default newage folding mirrors

just fitted some jdm folding mirrors to my uk blobeye sti.
just some information for anyone doing the mod.

i did a search on here and found alcazars post very helpfull!!
thanks fella

all very easy to do you just need to add two wires from the mirror wiring loom back to the switch.

the only thing i can add to alcazars advice is you dont need to run the wire into the door panel i spliced mine to the loom just before it goes into the door,
you need the yellow wire and the black with white stripe and they are next to each other in the connector in both footwells.

just run a wire back to the switch from both yellow and black and white on both sides and job done!!

I did mine last week too, took about 20 min each side and that was feeding the wire through the footwell's into the doors.

i found these helpful;

You DO have to put the wires through into the door as they aren't there on a classic

Just what DID we get for our money, buying a classic?

Lol well there's no need to run any wires into the doors on newages anyway!
Other than that your advice was great and made the job very easy !

I never had to run my wires into the doors on my old MY99 Classic, just tapped into the wires down in the footwells and ran back to the switch. I believe some classics have the wires already ran to the switch on the standard loom.

Ayde.

The 98 car doesn't

I even had to go out and get some connectors to fit into the mirror loom car connectors.

On the classic, the wires into the door are all in use, there are no spares, and the mirror connector on the car's loom only had three wires to it.

ah i see my connector had five!
sounds a far easier job on the newages.
£100 and a few hours of time and im thinking what a pointless mod but cant leave the scooby alone!

£100?????????

Mine cost me £25, plus the connectors which were off a scrapper, so 50p, and the wire, which I had.

The guy who was spraying my rear bumper sprayed them for me so long as I did the prep work, and charged me nowt.

Anyone know if this works on the hatch, they fold in if you press the switch but I want them to automatically fold in when ignition is turned of, there was a guy on here selling a little box of tricks for about £25 but he odes not do them anymore.

Cheers
A

i would think you can wire it to the ignition instead of the switch but im no expert maybe alcazar can help.
if you look on nasioc someone has wired them to the alarm on a hatch so they fold when locked and open when unlocked.

I THINK you'd want a latching changeover relay, which would be triggered on when the ignition was switched off. But I'm not good with electronics.

I've just bought some jdm mirrors also. The connection block to the mirror is different im presuming i use the UK block and pull out the wires and re seat them?
