#1
Can anybody recommedn a babyseat that fits the MY00. The buckle webbingss are too long and result in "buckle crunch" for the britax seats and bebe seats?
Has anyopne been able to change the webbings of their seatbelts?
Any help greatly appreciated
Cheers

Can't remember what my kid's one is, but it's a better looking bucket seat than mine!
When I go to the car, I'll check the brand, but it fits very well with my00 seatbelts and is solid as a rock when 'installed'.

Wow! Great looking seat!
Does it definately stay clear of the buckle - apparently if the buckle is touching the seat this can cause it to fail upon impact.
Where did you get the seat from?
Thanks in advance

Yup, maxi cosi priory is the one I use, too. Fits very nicely. Available from Tesco Direct mailorder, and Mothercare. Around £100-£120, I think. Can get nice Zebra effect cover for it, too.
Also fits in the front seat of an Elise. My 18 month old loves being able to look forward through the windscreen

I bought a Recaro "Start" childs seat for my daughter after using the Britax type, it uses the cars own seatbelts and is more like a proper seat rather than a piece of cloth covered plastic cost about £165 but is a good investement because it should last for years as is fully adjustable, bought mine from BLADE VW in gloucester (01452 415000) speak to them or nearest Recaro dealer. simon

Taff, i went though all the agonising about which is best britax(good sold name)or recaro(name looks cool in the back of the scoob) but eventually had to decide who i was buying for,me or the lad!!! so i went for the britax with the plastic moulded base which fits verry well and tight with no need to alter or adjust webbing and it is a similar coulour to the rear seat as well (dark blue and green)
hope this helps
Dave
ps £99.00 in mothercare

Taff, the seat belt buckle doesn't touch the seat.
I don't know if others can comment on their kid's seats, but when reclined Casey's feet (he's 2 and a half) touch the back of the passenger seat (which is always in the position for a normal person, btw, not a flexible jointed midget!)
I don't think any seat will be different - rear room is satisfactory, not brilliant.
Chris - I though I spotted you this morning - your car's faster than mine! you must've been doing 12mph!!!!

I had the webbing length for the centre belt adjusted so as to fit 1x4 years (booster seat), 1x2 years (3 point all-in-one Britax something)& 1xmonths (full metal cage job - using centre belt)into my STi.
I contacted the Consumers Association who gave me a telephone number for a company specialising in seatbelt adjustments. Sorry can't remember the name but it cost ~£12.
Never had any of them sick in the car. - Only a passenger going round Donnington a couple of years ago in a full face helmet! Some of you old timers will remember that.

I use a Britax seat - to get around the buckle crunch problem there's an alternative routing for the belt (it is legit. - it's in the instruction book). I got the seat from a Mothercare superstore - they were really helpful & spent ages bringing seats out to the carpark & trying them in the car. A lot of seats did suffer from the buckle being in the wrong position.

I have/had a Britax Rock a Tot and Britax Eclipe in my MY00 on the back seat behind the passenger seat.
Both seemed to fit fine, they were checked by the shop. Also the Britax helpline said both were fine in an MY00 Subaru.
Can you tell me more about this buckle problem?
Greg

Thanks for all the help - we tried a britax renaissance but that definately buckle crunched. "Stweart" of mothercare in cardiff came out to fit it and he (the expert) said no go - for those above who've asked buckle crunch is (apparently) when the buckle is pulled against the body of the chair. As soon as this occurs then the seat becomes unsafe (so I'm told).
My wife has just been told by the maxi cosi supplier that there is a company called InCar Safety that supply a device which effectively shortens the webbing.
My webbing is definately too long. Britax club class will fit with the re-routing but it doesn't seem to have such good lateral support - not good for the youngster when daddy gets a bit enthusiastci around a roundabout
What I didn't mention above was that I need a seat that will also fit a 2 door S reg clio - apparently there hard to find on their own let alone one that matches a scoobie as well.
I'm beginning to think a roof box would be a better option
apologies for the poor speling and grandma

Taff,
W've got the Britax Club Class Extra which was bought from M&S.They confirmed that it would fit the Scoob OK after calling Britax.Seems to be OK as far as I can tell, although the buckle does seem to be fairly close to the frame, but not actually touching. This particular one was an exclusive for M&S, it came in Blue and yellow.Definitley the right colour for the Scooby! As for Britax, the name speaks for itself.
Hope you're not too bombarded with info and sort something out.

Greg SPJ - are your cars MY00?
Are they also 5 door? The bloke at mothercare was adamant (..prince charming, prince charming...tra la la la la la) that the britax seats would not fit - except the club class with the alternative routing.
The renaissance definately crunched..
I'll ring Britax myself and 'ave a word with them
Cheers people
