So thats everything STI then or better

I think thats cheating

i mean to be honest, im just look for the most power without my car blowing to pieces.

I dont have loads of money kicking around but can justify a few hundred quid here and there.

I have a vf34, slightly bigger injectors i beleve - not sure what size, full decat exhaust, remap, induction, big top mount & exedy racing clutch etc.

Im currently considering:

FMIC
PORTING & WRAPPING
MAP TWEAK TO INCREASE BOOST TO 1.5 bar

i just dont want to see pistons flying through my bonnet in a cloud of smoke.

340-350 should be ok for the block, but its gearbox first.

FMIC is a waste as STI top mount is ok for circa 400bhp(so assuming yours hsuld match the STI) , porting should help it breathe along with the map tweek, if your not running a 3 port boost solinoid well worth it. Walbro fuel pump will help with the mixture too

ok, so i have no idea what a 3 port boost solinoid is & how much they are or what they do, also, can a straight forward garage fit these? the intercooler i have is bigger than the sti one so should be alright. i think i have a walbro already... thats what i was told..

The wrx is officially putting out 317bhp... would love to get nearer to 350

and you thought the spec i listed was cheating????

The 3 port allows you to hold more boost for longer when its remapped

Gives the mapper more control.

ok cool, next question, which boost solenoid to buy, i see perrin and turbosmart make decent ones, so what would you choose - for the best value, on ebay there are ones for 40 quid etc but i really dont want to end up chucking it and buying twice.

Spec at the moment:

VF 34 turbo
remapped
full decat and down pipe decat
jap exhaust
large top mount intercooler
Exedy racing organic clutch and flywheel
walbro i think, not 100%
larger injectors, think they are sti ones, again, not 100% as all work done before i bought it.
Engine just had £2500 spent on rebuild as the bottom end went.
its making 317bhp. wrx 2005 blob
AEM induction kit

Harvey Smith has some nice 3 port valves for sale, def get a walbro if not already, cant see why with that little lot you're not getting 330 - 340 already

What spec was the bottom end rebuilt to? If its forged you're good for a few more ponies then without worrying

HAHA im on the phone to admiral now! to report your naughty ways

would it be better for me to look at larger headers rather than porting the standard wrx ones? if so can you guys recommend a set?

another question, is it easy to check if the pump is a walbro or not, is there any obvious branding & where in the engine is it located?

Will need to decide on the solinoid.

I need to choose one & also the headers, il buy a walbro if i aint got one then il go to a tuning place and have the boost turned up...

what would you buy?

RCM headers are the best mate

Boosty you need to decide what your doing with the car before you venture down any mod routes. If you want it look quick and handle like a dream then dont bother with FMIC and CAI etc etc at your level. You can make a 330bhp car very quick if you listen and learn from others. Get the car sat right first, so some decent suspension upgrades inc ARB's etc, consider some better discs and pads too, and if you can afford brembo's then buy these. Keep away from gimics that offer no performance enhancements at all such as a Baileys BOV!

However again you need to decide which route your going to take with the car, I live from experience with this and with two cars I started moddifying with the intention of just makng a car quick, to wanting to track the car, HOWEVER the car in question was the wrong base car to be throwing loads of money at, and in fact at the end of power hunt in a WRX I had more money in it than what I culd have bought an STI for, but I didnt have the extras such as Brembo or a 6 Speed!!!

thanks for the advice rob, it does make allot of sence. i want to be realistic, i want to get to 350bhp power and then that would be the lot for the wrx. if i wanted any more, i would probably look to sell the car and go down the sti route, just being 24, my insurance wont allow the higher spec just yet. I am in the process of improving the braking, the car has strut bracing, anti roll bars all over the body & has coilovers already so thats good. Just want to know what boost solenoid and Headers will give best results for low spend. thats it really.

headers your prob gonna want double that at least unless you can find some second handm even then your gonna be struggling.

i know this is prob a daft question (and maybe mentioned earlier) but you have budgeted for mapping once these mods are done?

You can pick 3 ports up on ebay for not a lot of money, got mine from ebay for £20. Just a matter of being patient sometimes.
