Default Electronic boost controller. Worth it?

Hi all.

I am thinking of getting a electronic boost controller for my 95 wrx. Are they worth it or should I stay with the standard 3 port? Im not after increasing the boost pressure well maybe a tiny bit, its chipped to run 1.1 so may try 1.2. I'm led to believe that a good ebc will give slightly faster spool up and will mantain the target boost better is this true?
So whats peoples views?

I use a AVCR in my car. Amazing bit of kit if you know how to use the features properly.

I have very little knowledge on these, could you give a bit more detail on what these do compared to the standard 3 port setup.

I didn't move over to an AVCR until quite late in the modding day LOL Persoanlly I'd spend the money on something else (they go for about £220 used by the way) and then you have to pay someone to fit and map it

Is it only the AVCR that needs mapping or should they all be done?

AVCR takes boost control away from the ECU so it's not as easy as it seems.........I'd try something different

AFAIK 95 WRX would need something like ESL Live mapping to maximise the potential of any changes / mods you have made.

Agreed, but on longer run will be wise SimTek ECU not AVC-R,which have good boost control and AVC-R will be useless.

The ESL should be able to look after boost for straightforward mods without the expense of a simtek

I know the standard ecu wont control boost with a ebc fitted but it'ill still know the boost being produced so will adjust to suit, is this correct or is it a case of ebc= remap end of?
