Real antilag is not for road use, the thing that goes pop bang whizz is not antilag and is pointless, unless you just want pop bang whizz?

Anti lag is completely pointless and over time will kill your car. If you only want a few pops and bangs to impress your mates then ask your mapper to add it in on the over run.
I have anti lag and launch enabled on my motec, never used either of them.

The simtec has to be A/L enabled and will cost more, the function will be controlled by an on/off switch.
The issue is what detromental effect it may have on the turbo, the exhaust side can glow red when in full use.
I would have said not with the VF35 but yes with the bigger turbo.

Ad UK,
Your obviously a newbie to the modifying scene on Subaru's.
What Impreza do you have ?
What are it's current mods ?
What is your budget ?
What are you looking to get from the car ?

If we know all these then we would be in a better position to help you.

I ran a road car classic with a GEMs for a while with jacked open throttle and anti-lag enabled full-time. This was an incredibly agressive setup and very unforgiving considering it was turned on and off with it running boost pressure and very high temperature.
Over 5000 miles of use like this I had no failure of any component directly effected by anti-lag.

I don't and wouldn't recommend it to anybody that didn't understand the strain certainly in temperature that it puts on the mechanical systems.

Most mappers will map a customer car with pops and bangs just for show rather than go, but if you want to use it seriously then it can be very beneficial.

I used to love the sound of full-time ALS on my scooby. If anyone was at the McRae gathering and heard Jimmy McRae in the 96 WRC car of Colin's then that's what it sounds like properly implemented.

As you are only going for a mild tuning level your best off going down the power fc route as save some cash. As already suggested above, ask the mapper to allow pops and bangs on over-run.
