whats the difference between STI and UK300
just wondering what the differences are between these scoobs, just had an insurance quote and the STI was double the cost compared to the same value/yr Uk300.
i didnt think theres was that much difference between these cars, they look pretty much the same?

Excatly, WRX with different lights and spoiler and an STI-esque interior - and in limited numbers. I believe the PPP was an option exactly the same as any other WRX.

might be same spec as a WRK as on the quote it came in at the price as a WRX and half the price of a STI
was quoted £680 for the uk 300 and £1200 for the STI both standard, thought both quotes pretty expensive as im 43 9+ yrs ncb clean license no claims parked on private drive in a small Essex town wife on policy as main drive with same ncb etc as me :/

If you have at least 1 years experience driving performance cars than you'll be able to smash that £1200 price, if you speak to the right companies.

we have had a scooby before about 5 yrs ago, also had a 206 GTI special edition, currently a 4.0 V8 Discovery. have vast experiance in off road driving and road and track superbikes.
i did have a quote from your company yesterday and i did speak to you at about 430 and got put on hold then someone else took over but they didnt seem keen to do me a quote but said ball park figure of £700 for a standard car and +50 percent for non standard, they said as its been 5yrs since last owning a Scooby you may not be able to cover me...

I'm just outside London, heavily modded WRX with protected NCB and only 38
, £520 a year, but I have had the car for over 5-years so I have experience on the marque as Moley says, although it wasn't much dearer when I first bought the car and insured it through Moley

Moley works for Keith Michaels Insurance (who insure my Impreza, Citroen and Transit van)...........he's just a bit shy today with the Royal Wedding and all that

yeah he did say it was only a ball park figure mate.
to be honest its all a bit confusing, is a JDM car dearer to insure than a UK car?
does tracker make a big difference?
im guessing most UK cars have Thatchem 1 alarms as standard?
seems theres a big shortage of standard cars about, most are heavily modified.
we have 5k to spend and ideally a fairly standard new age STI would suit us with a good history and sensible mileage or a UK300 if we can find one or..

No real difference between UK and JDM really.
Tracker doesn't make any difference, enless the vehicle valve is over £20k or you live in a high rated postcode.
All Newage UK cars will have a Cat1, but imports would need one fitted.
Modified cars don't really cost that much more really. We find we get less claims on modified ones than standard ones.

Chalk and cheese...
WRX/UK300 is nice car for family duties, more comfortable and less thirsty.
STI is more harsh, focused, and likely to be mod'd to be even faster.
