Default Have I inadvertently got a PPP?

I bought an 05 STI blob about a year ago, not really knowing too much about them. At the time it had the Prodrive exhaust (the one with little holes in the inner bit of the tailpipe), which I'm told is a giveaway that the car may be a prodrive one?

Since insuring it, its always come up as a Type UK 265 model on insurance websites, but I'm wondering if there is anyway to tell for sure if it is/is not a Prodrive Performance Pack car?

It doesn't say that it is on the V5, and there is no certificate, although this could have been lost during the midst of time?

Cheers!

p.s. Might also be worth mentioning, its got Prodrive mudflaps, although I realise those might just be additional extras!

mine comes up as 265 as well and the v5 doesn't mention ppp although mine has got ppp I've got the certificate and the sports cat which I saw when my car was on a ramp, also prodrive back box. A mapper would know for sure.

PPP would take it to 305PS Since the PPP was fitted against a specific car, maybe the supplying dealer would have done it and be on record, Prodrive should also have a record of supplying it against your vehicles VIN plate.

you should have certificate that states that your car has the ppp package, but as Midlife said there should be a record of it being fitted at prodrive.

Didn't need to be fitted at Prodrive as it was a dealer fit.......Prodrive just provided the kit but against a specific car

As a first check see if it has sports cat downpipe. If it has then it's likely it has a ppp and you could check at a dealer or get one of the mappers to check your ecu then would be 100% sure

Even having all the PPP items fitted doesn't mean it was there from new. The certificate is the give away.
Look for the sports cat downpipe and then take it to a rolling road.

Have a look for this m8 in the engine bay, below the turbo.

If it has this ppp sports cat, then it's been ppp'd or at least re-mapped.
Also the high flow fuel pump will be quite a noisy thing when you turn the ignition on.
You could lift the carpet in the passenger footwell and the ppp mapped ecu will have writing on it in black felt tip, std ones have no additional writing on them.

The supplying dealer will have details of the fitment, and prodrive keep a record, all you need is your reg number/vin number as these are printed on the certificate.

dont forget it could of been put on off another car easy done if you have all the right bits its all bolt on and plug in. if you have boost gauges it will boost at about 1.3 bar instead of the standard 1.0 bar i believe.

Thats brilliant, thanks for all the help so far! I've emailed Prodrive today and will await a response. If once doesn't arrive within the next few days I'll give them a call on the number provided above (thanks for that!).

Meanwhile I'll have a nosy in the footwell if I can get to the ECU and see if it says anything on there.

The fuel pump is very loud when it primes itself, a sort of high pitched noise, I just assumed that all Subaru fuel pumps sound like that, but the more I think about it, the more I reckon I have got a PPP car.

Problem is I've nothing else to compare it against, as I've never been in another Subaru!

I'll keep you informed, if anyone is interested :-)

Cheers Dave :-) Hoping an email will arrive from Prodrive tomorrow, but if not I'll give them a buzz and see what the deal is!
