newbie question, sti
can anyone tell me why ( as i have been looking in autotrader sti cars) some cars seem to have grey steering wheel in the centre and a black surround.i know its not a big deal just wondering.

You mean the MOMO steering wheels?
I also take it your looking at classics (pre 2001) cars?
MY99/00 had the nice shiny badge in the centre of the steering wheels, the MY98's had like a pressed version into the wheel (more like a brand).

03-54 had black steering wheels with grey centres and then 05 onwards had the full black steering wheel along with a different, dash, dccd, bigger hubs, spec c geometry, wider track, rear arch lips. etc.

Yeh they were facelifted after 54 plate which consisted of a wider track and dccd which improved the handling and got rid of the bad understeer. If you can try and go for a 54 plate +
