Default AE800 Ecu map.

Got a UK Turbo 2000, think its a MY99 its on a 'T' Plate, i've found my ECU, and its labelled, AE800

can this be remapped, or swapped out for another standard ECU, i've read somewhere that swapping on ECU for a different version, i.e off a different model can increase bhp.

I'm fairly sure it can be remapped via Ecutek software. A free flowing panel filter, exhaust and remap will liberate some extra horses. It's not worth just swapping ecu as this at best will not make any difference and at worst may blow the engine.

The MY99 to MY00 ECUs are all interchangeable and come in three different versions: AE800/801/802. The AE802 from the later MY00 cars has a worse map than the AE800/801 versions due to an overly rich fuel map and a progressive boost map.

They can all be remapped with ECUTek and if this is done then the original version then makes no difference as the map is overwritten anyway. The ECU is fine for most mods even bigger turbos and stuff so only change to something else if going for monster power.

I swapped the AE802 in my old Classic MY00 for an AE801 and it made a noticeable difference.

How much are we talking? I've got 3in open mouth downpipe, sports cat into full 2.5in vortex afterburner system, 3bar fuel pressure reg with 255lph walbro, powertec induction kit and STi top mount. It's running mint emissions and diagnostics are spot on but it could do with a map for it's full potential
