Default OK so youve got Cash which engine builder do you choose

Ok so i know about a few of the engine builders out there,

Iain @ Lichfields
Alan the Engine Tuner
Scooby Clinic Chesterfield

Who would you use if you had to have your engine modded to 450 500, and didnt know anything about cars ie ME

Im unsure of anymore as Alan and Iain seem to be the main 2 we all talk about, and i keep seeing scooby clinic thrown into the mix.

who else we got.

cheers

With respect, if you don't know anything about cars you should not be driving a car modded to 450/500.

The End.

you wont get a straight answer on this mate, too many people out there slinging mud about ALL the places out there. you'll get a 'i wont go there cos of this' ' i wont go there cos of that' and thrad will just disolve into a slagging match.

My advice is pay a visit to a few and decide which your happy with.

Andy Williams from Williams motorsport, won't rip your arm off and works alongside myself as I do all his mapping. So you can get it built, run in and mapped for great value!

If I can bolt-on some bits and JGM cam map it to 400+ bhp...
Does it really matter who bolts them on ?

had mine done at engine tuner and it was pretty straight forward, my advice is speak to Alan and the boys, give a shout to David at api and scooby clinic and go from there.

Sorry but I disagree mate you don't need to know alot about cars to have a high spec/power car, look at all the prestiege car owners they are running high power and most don't even know how to change the spare wheel. Bet if you asked an m3 owner about injector duty or how much tourqe there gearbox can take be for changing it they would scratch there head and go 'errrrrrrrr?'

Yes, echo most of the above. Tried most of them but must say personally that Enginetuner would come tops. Glenn at Carnetix, Melton Mowbray also is very good, like Tidgy said ring and visit to make your OWN mind up to avoid Chinese wispers lol

All the best with your money pit, with power gains your after you will need it, personally just aim for for a quick spooling torquey solid 350/350 with good set of coilovers, handling pack and monster brake conversion

I'm going to throw my views in on this!! I have had first hand experience at looking round engine tuners workshop when I bought my STI from Storm Performance which is Alan's brothers business, the work they were carrying out was first class, and Alan was only too happy to show me and my partner round and have a chat, so if i were you this is without doubt who i would use, you also hear so many good things on here.

Personally i would not used API as a good friend of mine has had a very bad experience with them but thats another story!

Someone to defiantly look at though is Scooby projects in ledbury, Hereford shire, they are up and coming and do all my work on my car now and the service you recieve is very very good. Keith is a top bloke. There website is www.scoobyprojects.co.uk for anyone who is interested

Hope this helps a little

Personally I think it's all down to what you feel. You need to talk to them about what you want and how to go best about getting it. To throw another name into the mix I travelled along way just for rich @ FBTuning to do the work on mine. He gets great reviews and is so knowledgable. Last time I was down there he was building budgie's car and has just moved to a new place. I do hear alot about thwaites aswell.

Why is this? If you were really clued up you could do it yourself. If you are not you pay someone. If the chosen tuner does a good job, it makes little difference how much the owner knows about engines.

I don't know anything about cars so by your logic my 602bhp is far too much for me??

Maybe he means that he should invest the money into trackdays/skid pan driving etc and learn how to drive instead of spend x amount on 500bhp and not get the best of it.

Guys appreciate the feedback, im running a 2.5 so im presuming a 2.1 is if i was running a 2.0.

Ive got some quotes together from a few of the guys above already and i have spoken at length to one whos always been polite and responsive to my questions,.

Your comments have afformed my direction.

I will look at the others though and see whats what, its time to start hiding 50ps in my socks and build up them funds.

thanks
