Default V2 wrx not going into reverse gear

Hi as above it's a version 2 wrx import, the car won't go into reverse gear but goes into all other gears, checked gearbox oil and it's fine, could it be the clutch cable?

More likely the box is on its way out, probably a selector thats knackered you need to speak with a gearbox speciallist tbh.

Clutches can't be adjusted Does it go into reverse with the engine switched off?

yeah this happens regularly, especially if you have the handbrake on, as it doesnt allow for any movement in the drive system, and so the teeth on the gears won't quite interlock.

however, robin112's problem, like tonyburns says, is probably a bit more serious unfortunately...

subaru specialist (not a main dealer!) I would recommend, because they will be able to advise you on what the actual problem is (they will have no doubt seen it before on other scoobs), and then if you do need a rebuild or new 'box, they will probably be able to advise you on the best options, as they are in the scooby trade.

Just get it to a scooby specialist. a good one won't charge a bomb for a quick look over and a bit of advice.
