Default rs turbo ?

hi all, a bloke i know " likes to exagarate " to say the least ! or to b totally honest " talk out his **** hole "
he has an rs turbo that hes been building for sum time , he has just got hold of a stage 3 hybrid turbo . its a "airesearch" which i believe is a garret turbo . here are his claims
. that he hit 160mph with 5 people in the car , ( standard gearbox and side mounted intercooler )
. and that the turbo runs 4-5 bar peak boost which he sais is 40psi ?

i hav a vf34 ball bearing turbo which ive heard can make 1.5-6 bar
so 5 bar ???? hmmmm wot do u reckon ? sounds like another one of those ford trolls that posted on here last week to me ...........a ***

40 psi is 2.7 bar which would blow the head off and through the bonnet of an rs turbo tbho and 160 on a standard box is not possible.

the first turbo car i ever had was a series 2 rs turbo, hit rev limiter with an indicated speed of 142mph going downhill so impossible with a standard gearbox which wouldnt take that much power anyway.

and 5 bar boost in a fwd car???

i havent seen a rs turbo run more than 2.2 bar boost and that was MAD as it was. 5 bar boost lmao bull****er. he probably meant .5 bar meaning 5psi ! standard gearboxes stil sometimes go off the clock but we all know they aint accurate its probably a genuine 140mph . im using a airsearch t4 turbo that i believe are used in trucks. mine pulled 168mph on my satnav but i dont know what the true speed was. im using custom ib5 quaiffe gearbox though with shot pinner gears and quaiffe atb differential with a ap racing 4 paddle clutch.. to be honest even with 30psi it feels like death is coming in a rs turbo becuase everything shakes and all hell breaks loose hence why im running low boost [1.2bar] and still making over 300bhp in a car that weighs fock all and fwd that doesnt wheelspind[set up correct]

Years ago I was chasing one on my GSXR and I think he maxed out at 130mph. He didn't do this for long though as there was a big cloud blue smoke and he dived for the hard shoulder. I still want one though

i had a rs turbo and i gave harvey gibbs 3k and i drove out with a relieable 225 bhp and the amount of custom parts was unreal.

biggest turbo i had fitted was a sierra cosworth stage 3 and i was running 22 psi as the custom intercooler that forge made couldnt cool anymore for the engine to be salf.

and the torque steer was unreel evan with a modified gear box ,

so the bloke talking shxx ,standerd intercooler my ****

You need to swap to RA gearing if that's the case...

P.S. I run >2 bar on mine, but 4 - 5 bar is simply comedy...

Reson i sold it was the impending feeling of death it gave you every time your drove it!

Top fun though felt like a 1.1 fiesta off boost then all hell broke loose Smiles per mile were well above any scooby's

My BIL had a 175hp RS which indeed fealt like death was on your shoulder when accelerating. One at 300hp must surely be a bad accident waiting to happen ...

Scooby_Drew had one with a "Cossie" lump in, it was undoubtedly quick, but not suitable for a grown up...

We still see them, I have one booked in tomorrow! Most have cottoned on now, and they stick with much lower boost. The best ones are the 1.8 ZVH (Zetec bottom end) versions, using a TT stage 2 hybrid with a stock cam. Nice and spooly with 200 bhp. More than enough when the clutch isn't up to much else, and the drive wheels are joined by elastic!

Damn right.. Try a Starlet with 300 bhp! Tee to green without touching the fairway.
