Default Headers

Hi, I need to change my headers and neither have the time or inclination to do it myself. Does anyone know of any decent scooby mechanics/garages in the Hull area?

Im living in Barrow upon Humber. I asked Martyn Bell but he said he didnt want to touch it and I dont blame him tbh.

Thanks in advance...

John

Two questions:

WHY do you NEED to change the headers?

And can you get it to Darlington? Harvey Smith is your man, header/up-pipe expert, good fitting service, good prices.

Firstly, why do you need to change your headers?
What do you want to achieve?
We can do ported headers on an exchange basis and fitting is a fixed £75. Drive in, drive out. The change over takes 2-3 hours but the price is fixed.
I suggest you send me a PM with your requirement and I will try and help you further whether you want a replacement part for a leaking section, ported or something else.

The existing headers are cracked and have been welded once. I have a replacement sat in the garage and just wanted them changing over. Lots of track days coming up so dont want to be let down on track with headers in half!

Darlington is 2 hrs from me but I'm interested in the ported thing - what will I gain Harvey from doing this? Could I get my spare headers to you, have them ported and then come and have fitted? What will that cost me or shall I pm you?

Thanks,
John

Darlington to Queens Gardens is 90 miles. Best rote for me is via Beverly but it will depend on your starting point.
We may have a replacement part to sort your headers out for not a lot of money.
Ported headers and matched uppipe will give you good gains and is usually done on an exchange basis. I need to know your spec to give best advice. If you are going a long way past 400 bhp with an appropriate turbo then it is probable that tubular headers and special uppipe is the way to go.
harveysmith1@btopenworld.com
The effect of ported headers over O/E is that the gas flow is greatly improved from cylinder head to turbo. This results in noticably more torque, particularly low and mid range, the engine will be more willing across the rev range and rev noticably more easily top end. With ported headers you do not need to remap but if you do remap you will get the best from your headers and this will involve adding fuel to the map. The turbo will achieve the same boost on less duty cycle or more boost on the same WG duty cycle.

Thanks Harvey...my little old RA is pushing 360bhp now and is enough for what I need it for and it is up to date very reliable so wish to keep things that way

The guy who owned it before me (scoobybits.co.uk) said it has a Syms racing exhaust complete with headers/up pipe/downpipe, so not sure if I need what you are saying - but I have been known to be worng on many occasions

I will send you a picture of the headers I bought off a lad in Manchester and you can tell me what I need from that and the above.

Thanks for all your help, and will be seeing you in Darlington soon me thinks
