Help needed !!!!!!!
Hi guys, first post and looking for some help if possible,
Bought an impreza turbo terzo the other day as a project and having some trouble with the engine.
Now the car starts no problem but the revs rise to just short of 2000 revs then drops down and cuts out within 5 seconds.
If you try driving it it stutters and jumps but after 5 mins or so once its warmed up it goes like a train and the car will sit happily idle.
Now been reading the forum and have changed the coil pack, put new plugs in I ran the car and disconnected plug to maf sensor and it cut out so that seems ok.
Just wondering what would cause this to happen.
Many thanks

Most likely to be the idle control valve maladjusted or sticking. Try minor adjustment first to see if it cures it, if not a strip and clean is in order.
To adjust, loosen the 2 pinch bolts slightly, then rotate literally 1mm in one direction, if that makes it worse, rotate it the opposite way, when the idle settles, lock the pinch bolts.
Don't be tempted to rotate it more to raise the idle higher than needed, it will cause the revs to drop too slowly when throttling off.
